         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><strong>The Fifteenth Amendment - </strong>provided that no state could deprive any citizen of the right to vote on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude</li><li><strong>Grandfather Clause-&nbsp;</strong>provided that only voters whose grandfathers had voted before 1867 were eligible to vote without paying a certain tax or passing a literacy test, aka no black male was allowed to vote</li><li><strong>The Literacy Test- </strong>states required citizens to pass a literacy test to qualify to vote making black citizens do much more</li><li><strong>Poll tax-&nbsp;</strong>citizens had to pay a poll tax before they could vote</li><li><strong>The Voting Rights Acts-&nbsp;</strong>allowed the federal government to register voters and send poll watchers on Election Day in states and localities that discriminated against African American voters.</li></ul><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
