  • Ischemic Stroke caused by Sickle Cell Anemia
  • Anna went into a diabetic coma caused by diabetic ketoacidosis. Due to high blood sugar for an extended amount of time, she was trying to give herself insulin but she fell and hit her head.
  • She injected too much insulin into her thigh, causing her blood sugar levels to dramatically decrease. This condition triggered her to become weak and dizzy and prompted her to fall. She then hit her head against the table side and died. 
  • Anna Garcia had Heart disease and with Diabetes, she had a higher chance of getting heart attacks. Especially with all the medications she was on, Anna might have died from a heart attack or heart failure.
  • Anna could have been trying to take aspirin for her back pain. Instead she fell and hit her head and vomited.
  • Occlusion from sickle cells could've blocked the blood flow causing Anna to become dizzy and fall.
  • Anna's urinary tract infection increased ketoacidosis and produced excess hormones. The hormones interfered with insulin's ability to do it's job. With insulin not functioning properly, the body resorted to fats for energy, creating ketones as by product. Anna tried to help her situation by injecting insulin shots, but it was too late. She became dizzy and hit her head.

    • Lens of right eye is cloudy, blood vessels in both eyes are swollen, and abnormal blood vessels on left retina. (Vision was most likely compromised)
    • Significant plaque buildup on the teeth and severely receding gums
    • Left kidney appears pale and shows the beginning signs of necrosis.
    • Anna was showing signs of ketoacidosis (DKA)- Can cause cerebral edema
