1. When will the guidebook for Special Education come out? How can we make a decision without this information? We have a limited window to submit our commitment form and review all information in the guidebook. We would need time to think about the information and figure out how it applies for our child. How would we address areas and ask questions before submitting our commitment form. How is this possible?
-I am working closely with our SPED Department to encourage our SPED team to share information ASAP!

2. How do you plan on keeping special education kids safe with the hands on learning? It will be impossible to implement mask wearing or 6 ft. physical distance.

3. Will teachers be provided PPE such as KN95 or N95? If not, how does this protect teachers who will be touching my child in special education and others?
-STAFF will be provided face coverings, See the PUSD Guidebook on page 8.

4. What does the self paced virtual home learning look like? Will they need to be on at a specific time with their teacher? Will teacher be instructing at this time virtually?
-Please check out the VLA information on the PUSD Reopening Page AND in the PUSD Guidebook. If you are referring to the contingency plan, it will likely be online learning programs at the learners level.

5. How will bathrooms be cleaned? Will students be metered to go to the bathroom?

6. How will multiple kids especially those who are sick be separated in the small health technician’s office?
We have established isolation rooms, as needed. The CVES Health Office will be closed for staff and community. It will ONLY be for students who are need of Health Services.

7. How will siblings be dropped off who are in different grade levels? What will special education drop off look like? My child in special education needs my support for both pick up and drop off.
We are recommending all family drive to drop off at the YOUNGEST child's time. As of now, 1-5th grade drive through drop off will be 7:40-7:55, TK/K- 7:55-8:05. All subject to change.

8. What will be taught in the 2 hours 45 minutes at school in regards to subjects? Will subjects be trimmed to fit all of them in, in this time? Will some of the subjects be left for virtual learning?
CORE subjects will be taught in the contingency plan- Math, ELA, Writing.

9. Will there be band and or orchestra for 5th grade students? Will instruments played by blowing with your mouth such as flute or clarinet be allowed?

10. Will there be paper assignments to turn in or will it be virtual? How will class tests be taken?

11. Will materials be taken back and forth between home and school?

12. How will the school physically distance recess and sports?
When the time is right, we will have assigned areas of the playground for cohort groups.

Hi Jill, just wondering what the difference would be between the VLA and in-person flexible online learning? If we chose on-campus and contingency plan is implemented, how will the online sessions be run? Will it basically be the same as the VLA, except run by the teacher or different somehow? Will that be determined by each teacher or a standard platform? Thank you!
**Hi there! Please take a look at the PUSD Guidebook on pages 16-19. It has lots of information regarding on campus and Virtual Learning. Here is a great link to the VLA. Regarding the contingency plan, take a peek at our CVES Reopening plan for further detail- Here is an overview of the schedule-Session One: 8:05-10:50 on campus/ 1-2 Hours Self-Paced Home Learning Session Two: 1-2 Hours Self- Paced HomeLearning/11:50-2:35 on campus
Lastly, we will work with Canvas, SeeSaw, FlipGrid, Google Classroom and many other great learning tools.

When I reached out to Shelley in the spring during enrollment, she said it was unsure how many (if any) new families would get a spot at ESS due to the Covid restrictions (our daughter is supposed to start TK this year). Due to this, we’ve elected to have our daughter stay at her preschool for TK. If ESS is able to accept more new students at the semester break, would we be able have her start mid-year? Will we be able to stay on the ESS waitlist if she is not enrolled or will we need to wait until next year? Thank you!
*ESS and I are well aware of the ongoing need. I would recommend you reach out to the Director of ESS, Michele WilsonManos and stay connected with Mrs. Silva. We hope to have your TK learner be a coyote soon!
