Pathway Coaching provides comprehensive academic and social support for high-potential Black and Latinx Elementary and Middle students to increase academic engagement, college readiness, and leadership skills.

As a volunteer, you will be matched one-to-one with a student weekly for an hour each session and are encouraged to commit to two semesters. Times are flexible to fit your schedule. Volunteers and students engage in homework completion and assignments aligned with the teacher’s curriculum. Volunteers will develop and conduct a lesson plan for the after-school coaching sessions with feedback from the Supervisor.

1. Become a CDSS Transfer Launch Tutor!

Support incoming transfer students during our new Transfer Launch program (August 9-14) and help them hit the ground running academically.

What's included:

• Room and board covered for the week (and early move-in costs if you have Fall housing)

• A chance to make a real impact on students' transitions

Your responsibilities:

• Attend program sessions and take notes to identify concepts needing reinforcement

• Provide personalized academic support based on individual student needs

• Lead study groups and create a collaborative learning environment

• Prepare review materials and practice problems aligned with daily content

2. Become a Hello World Mentor!

Our Hello World Fall 2026 Mentor application is now open. Please complete this form to apply. 

• We have a first-year and a transfer track

• All mentors attend weekly meetings - you'll choose the day that works best for you. In the first part of the meeting, we'll cover the topics for the week. After that, you meet with your mentees

• You will receive a $400 stipend for the fall in November

The application process is easy. Just complete the form and we'll schedule a 20-minute interview over the summer. This interview will also be an opportunity for you to hear from a lead mentor about how things work and to ask any questions you might have.
