Virtual Reality has been successfully applied to healthcare industry with different approaches. The use of such technology offered by companies like Osso VR and Immersive Touch offer virtual reality solutions to train or upper skills of surgeons. In a recent study from Harvard Business review showed that VR-trained surgeons had a 230% boost in their overall performance compared to their traditionally-trained counterparts. The former were also faster and more accurate in performing surgical procedures. Some applications of VR.
In a combination of hardware (use of headsets or glasses and software) the VR offers a vast field of applications for healthcare:
1) Medical education and training ;
With a VR camera, surgeons can stream operations globally and allow medical students to actually be there in the OR using their VR goggles
2) Relaxing patients with medical VR (moments for cognitive and phychological experience)
In a recent pilot study, patients undergoing surgery at St George’s Hospital in London had the option to use a VR headset prior to and during their operation to view calming landscapes during the procedure. 100% of the participants reported that their overall hospital experience was improved by wearing the headset, while 94% said they felt more relaxed. Furthermore, 80% said they felt less pain after wearing the headset and 73% reported feeling less anxious.
https://youtu.be/zpcNhnU-Aaw
3) Real conferences with VR for enhanced experience: With the interactive possibilities that VR offers like 3D visualisation and gamification, audience engagement and the overall quality of the conference showed a better result.
4) Helping physicians experience life lyke as the elderly: as a method of teaching young doctors and physicians how to deal better with elderly people, creating empathy abilities
5) Speeding up recovery in physical therapy : After a stroke for instance the use of VR has shown to be effective in rehabilition gains for the patients using it.
https://youtu.be/xGfsAnWu5os

source: https://medicalfuturist.com/5-ways-medical-vr-is-changing-healthcare/
