BTS Hotwash by Jennifer Ellegood

A hotwash is the "after-action" discussions and evaluations of an agency's (or multiple agencies') performance following an exercise, training session, or major event (such as BTS). The main purpose of a hotwash session is to identify strengths and weaknesses of the response to a given event, which then leads to another governmental phase known as "lessons learned," which is intended to guide future response direction in order to avoid repeating errors made in the past.

The Certification process was WAY too long and arduous for the PRNs. Knowing the curriculum/content is important, but this year we went overboard on building that knowledge. The note-catcher needs to be optional (If it helps you, use it...) Having to wait until someone "grades" a quiz caused real delays in PRNs getting certified because so many of them work on this on weekends.

We get many, many "useless" emails, many of which are automatically generated. (For example: New Core PD Available...but for BL or IM to deliver). There are also many meetings were are invited to that are not related directly to our jobs. This gets very overwhelming and if we would attend them all, we would need to work 15+ hours a day to get everything in. They sometimes feel like someone just decided to have a meeting without thinking things through.
