Today the congress and King of Great Britain got together to sign the Treaty of Paris. The Americas is now an independent country and free from Britain. Turning the meeting a painting was being painted of the sensory. British delegations refused to sit down and be in it. The painting ended up being unfinished and only had Americans in it. The painter, Benjamin West, decided to leave it like that and not finish it because it showed how British is unreasonable.The treaty allows us, the US, to be independent from Britain, boundaries would extent dramatically, each side would repay debts, British would return enslaved persons they had captured, and Congress would recommend that the states return any property they had seized from Loyalists.

I'm so happy we are free of Britain. I was tired of always being bossed around, taxed without having any say in it, and limited to who we can trade with. But what's going to happen now that Britain doesn't rule us anymore? Is it going to change at all? We better not get taxed and laws put  on us without our consent. I have faith that we will be free and not have to worry about that though. All of us have fought for this day and now that it's here, we have to admire it and, “I hope i shall one day find land enough to lay my bones in.”

I'm not sure how g feel about the separation of Britain and America. Today I lost my job and now I don't have any and taking a ship to Canada. I have no money or anything to buy. I'm kind of glad that I'm not a tax collector because I would get abused and torchered every day. I'm not sure what I'm going to do once I get to Canada and also, "some have to lament over the wreck of their departed wealth and estates”
