(Gabriel walks a little depressed in the city after his interview)

Gabriel: (thinks) I did well in the interview, they told me I would start next week, but I can't feel happy.

(Gabriel passes by a bar and hears music, causing him to enter the bar out of curiosity) 

(He observes a band playing inside and very excited he asks for a coffee, then someone approaches him)

Lucia: Hi boy, do you like their music?

Gabriel: Hi, yeah! These guys play very well, I've been here many times but I've never been inside this bar, do you always invite artists to play here?

Lucía: Mmmm well not always, before this bar was full of people, we always had artists playing here, but suddenly less new musicians started to arrive and people got tired of the same old stuff and that made the customers decrease in this place.

Gabriel: Really? That's terrible... 

Lucia: Yeah, it is, now we only have music events about three times a month.

Gabriel: (thinking) how sad that a great place like this doesn't have artists that want to play in it, but maybe this is my chance to show what I'm able of.

Gabriel: (energetic) please miss, let me sing in your bar, I'm very good, I can help you to recover costumers, you won't regret it.

Lucia: (looks surprised, but then smiles slightly) What's your name boy?

Gabriel: My name is Gabriel, It's a pleasure!

Lucia: It’s a pleasure too, my name is Lucia, I'm the bar manager, so I'll wait for you next week, ok? Give me your number, I'll call you and I'll give you the details by message. 

Gabriel: Thank you for the opportunity, I won't let you down!

(Gabriel gives her his number, thanks her and leaves very excited) 

(after a few hours an ad of the bar appears on social networks promoting Gabriel as a guest artist)

(mother and father are in the living room watching TV)

Mother: (finds the ad by chance and shows it to her husband very surprised) look at this! It's about Gabriel! 

Father: (reads it very surprised) This boy, no matter how much we talk to him, he doesn't want to understand, I think I'll have to call my brother to see if he can talk some sense into him.

 

Gabriel: (surprised) uncle Royer, it's been a long time, it’s good to see you again! (walks up to him and shakes his hand).

Uncle Royer: (while smiling) It's good to see you too, boy, I see you've grown up, you're adult now.

Gabriel: (lets out a nervous laugh) haha, I still consider myself a teenager, although I see you've aged a bit too uncle, but tell me, what brings you here?

Uncle Royer: Can't I visit my dear nephew once in a while? 

(Gabriel's father appears on the scene)

Father: Actually, it was me who called him, I found out through social networks that you are going to sing in a bar next week, since it is so hard for you to listen to your mother and me, I decided to called your uncle to see if you will accept some advice from him!

Gabriel: (a little shy) You say that as if the fact that I like music is a bad thing.

(the atmosphere gets a little tense)

Uncle Royer: (a little nervous) haha come on guys don't be like that, how about if I take little Gabriel for a walk, so we can have some talk? So, what do you say Gabriel, shall we go? (gets up from the sofa and goes to the front door)

Gabriel: (throws a serious but at the same time nervous look at his father) Yes, that's fine for me, let's go.

(Gabriel and his uncle are in a park drinking canned coffee)

Gabriel: Uncle, I'm sorry for what happened at home, I really don't understand why my father gets like this. 

Uncle Royer: I can understand why your father cares so much about your future, and I guess it's time you knew that.

(he takes a sip of his coffee while Gabriel looks at him a little intrigued).

Uncle Royer: You remember Uncle Alexander?

Gabriel: Yes, I've heard about him, he passed away before I was born.

Uncle Royer: Exactly, a long time ago, your father, your uncle Alexander and I loved music, we were always invited to play at events, in different towns, our father didn't like the idea of us going into music, since he was a civil engineer, and he wanted us to study the same thing at the university.

Uncle Royer: One bad rainy day, when we were on our way to a nearby town to play, a hill collapsed, making our car go off the track and falling into a ravine, your father and I were badly injured, but we survived, on the other hand Alexander... took the worst part, he didn't make it.

Uncle Royer: He feels guilty for what happened with Alexander, he was driving the car, besides he insisted on going to that city to play... but I don't blame him, it was an unfortunate random event, just that... after that your father left music for good, he graduated in civil engineering, and now he wants you to do the same.

Uncle Royer: I did the same, but I still haven't forgotten music, every day I miss it... I know Alexander would have wanted your father and I to go on with our dream (rests his hand on Gabriel's shoulder and giving him a tender look, he says) 

Uncle Royer: If music really makes you happy, don't let it, don't make the same mistake I did, for something that's in the past, I will support you in whatever it takes, don't give up boy!

(then they return home)

(Gabriel enters the bar a little excited and approaches Lucia)

Gabriel: Good evening Lucia, I think I'm on time!

Lucia: Hi Gabriel, good evening! I'm feeling a bit excited, I hope you can bring us some customers tonight.

Gabriel: Leave it to me, besides I have to do a good job since my uncle is coming to see me today... I must confess I feel a little nervous (makes a nervous smile)

Lucia: Don't worry, I trust you, if you do well maybe I will start calling you more often haha.

(Lucia approaches the stage and announces)

Lucia: Ladies and gentlemen!!!! Thank you for waiting and welcome tonight! Today we bring a new musician with a lot of confidence!

(Gabriel approaches the stage, takes a big breath of air and looks up at the audience, then sees his uncle)

(his uncle gives Gabriel a thumbs up giving him confidence and then he starts to sing)

Lucia: (very surprised) Unbelievable! He does it very well, that's why he was so confident! 

(Lucia observes how people start to come into her bar attracted by the music and she looks excited)  

(in the crowd Sofia watches him very intrigued while she orders a coffee) 

(Gabriel finishes singing and everyone applauds him very enthusiastically)

Gabriel: That's all for today friends, thank you very much. (he gets off the stage) 

(his ancle and Lucia come up to him) 

Uncle Royer: You did very well boy, I feel proud, I could see that you sang with a lot of feeling. 

Lucía: YES, that was incredible! a lot of people started to come thanks to you, to be honest, I had my doubts about you at the beginning, but now I am sure, I want you to come next week, please!

Gabriel: thanks to both of you, I felt a little nervous, but it seems that the audience really liked my participation....

(Sofia approaches them)

Sofia: Hello, good evening, my name is Sofia, it's a pleasure to meet you Gabriel, I was passing by chance and I heard you singing, I would like to talk to you for a moment, if it's not too much trouble.

Mother: Hi honey, are you going out?

Gabriel: (a little nervous) hi mom, yes actually I'm going out for a moment, I have a job interview.

Mother: (intrigued) mmm I see, honey I would like to talk to you for a moment.

Gabriel: (a little upset) but mom, I will be late....

Mother: It will be only be a moment, I promise.

Gabriel: (gives a little sigh) okay mom, what do you want to talk about? 

(they both go into Gabriel's room and sit down on the bed)

Mother: It's about your father, I see him very discouraged lately, since you started singing in that bar.

Gabriel: mom, I only sing in that bar at night, besides, I ended up accepting that job in his company, he doesn't have to worry, finally I ended up doing what he wanted.

Mother: I know son, but I guess your uncle already told you, the reason why he cares so much about you and your future...I just want to tell you, son, that no matter what you do, I will support you in everything you do, you were always a very good boy and I am proud of you, besides I know that your interview now is in a radio station, I just tell you to take it easy, do it for me, for your father. 

Gabriel: (moved) thank you mom, thank you for everything you do for me, this is my dream, I won't let it go, and don't worry, I will make dad proud of me.

(she gives her mother a hug and leaves in a hurry) 

(he arrives to the living room and there is his father sitting there reading a book) 

Gabriel: I'm leaving, daddy, I love you!

(his father looks back at him as he is leaving and smiles slightly)

(Gabriel arrives at Sofia's radio)

Gabriel: Good morning, sorry I'm late, mmm there was some traffic!!!

Sofia: (very energetic as she pats him on the back) Hellooo Gabriel! I almost thought you weren't coming, I was getting a little sad hahaha just kidding, I'm glad you came. 

Gabriel: (slightly embarrassed and a little uncomfortable) hehe I wasn't going to waste the opportunity to dedicate myself to what I like (while scratching his head)

Sofia: I like that attitude, and I'll be honest with you, since the first time I saw you, while you were singing, I was enchanted with you, I had to talk to you no matter what!   

Gabriel: (a little embarrassed) eh… hehe thank you, it really makes me blush....

Sofia: there's nothing to be ashamed of boy!!! now, let's get down to business!!!! I really liked how you sang in that bar and I know a talent when I see one, so tell me boy, do you want to work with us? I have a lot of influences and I will do everything in my power to get your music everywhere, what do you think, are you up for it?

Gabriel: (thinks) All my life I dreamed of being able to sing for all the people, but I got stuck in something that wasn't my thing, to make my father happy, but I guess it's my turn to be happy, this is my chance! this is my ideal job!!!!!

(Gabriel gives Sofia a gentle look and extends his hand to her)

Gabriel: Help me Sofia, help me to make my music reach as many hearts as possible! 

Sofia: (smiles proudly) haha That's the way I like it.

Gabriel: (narrating) My name is Gabriel, I am 23 years old, I recently graduated from college in civil engineering, the truth is that I never liked this university career, I studied it because my father did it in college, my dream was always to study music, but my parents never liked the idea.

Father: (knocks on the door and then enters Gabriel's room) son, get up, it's morning! you will be late for your job interview, I had a hard time convincing my bosses to give you an appointment today!

Gabriel: I'll be ready in a minute... (I don't really feel motivated to work in something I'll never like, but how can I tell my parents?) 

(Gabriel is already dressed and sits at the table, ready to have breakfast)

Mother: Hi honey, good morning, are you ready for your interview? (while serving him cereal with milk)

Gabriel: good morning ...... actually, I'm not feeling very enthusiastic today.

Mother: (surprised) huh? why? 

Gabriel: well, you know that music has always been my thing, I've already finished studying Engineering and I'm still young and I would like to study Music now

Father: (annoyed) No Gabriel, I don't want to listen anything else! it cost a lot of sacrifice to your mother and me for you to finish this career! if you want to study music, work and pay your own way!!!! Don't count on us for that.

Mother: Son, I know how much you like music, but engineering is something that will give you a comfortable life, you graduated with excellent grades, I'm sure you will find a job as an engineer very quickly, and as for music, it can be your hobby, now hurry up and go to your interview.

(Gabriel gets up from the table in disgust and leaves the room).
