Whoever finds the pickle first gets a reward. Every Christmas my family would hide the Christmas pickle in our tree. My parents still keep this tradition going today. When I was in Thailand I ate new foods, explored the country learning their culture and met many new friends. This was my first time traveling out of North America and was a very big culture shock. Instantly I fell in love with cheerleading and focused all my time on the sport. After a few years I joined a competitive team where I traveled all over the country for competitions. Book It is a reading program that encourages kids to read with rewards. All I had to do was track my reading and meet a monthly goal. Once I reached my goal I got rewarded with a free Pizza Hut pizza. Every year for Christmas or my birthday I would ask for an American Girl doll and the book that came along. Each book had a historical aspect to it which taught me a lot about past events. I always had a deeper understanding of my doll after I would read her story. Growing up in the suburbs, my family and I always took trips to the city. Every year my Mom takes my siblings and I to walk around the city and look at the Christmas lights. This is something I always look forward to because I get to see the city in a different way. When I go home I always eat my favorite foods such as deep dish pizza, Portillos and Garrett’s popcorn.
