SMART Goals

Specific: My goal is to improve my grade next term, as I my grades are not bad, but I know for sure that there are things that I could have done better.

Measurable: I can see all of these through my Google Classroom. I can see the grades and in relation to that whether I had studied well enough or not, and whether I crammed assignments or not in the work that I pass.

Attainable: I plan to get better grades in Math by actually following through with my other goals. I can cram assignments less by doing them ahead of time, maybe the day they are assigned, or at least 3 days before they are due. I can study math more thoroughly also by studying in advance, and not only studying when I need to or want to.

Relevant: My Math grades will be important when I apply for SHS and college, and the other 2 goals will help me improve my Math grades. Not only that, but I believe that I want to fix this because I want to be better in terms of character. I think it would be an improvement in my character if I get used to doing things early, and to enrich myself in things on my own initiative.

Time-Bound: I believe that there is actually no specific time frame, as I can apply these goals as long as I am a student, and even as long as I am alive because we can all improve as humans. Realistically though, I believe a good comparison date would be the end of this term, or the end of the 3rd term. It would be a good point of comparison to see changes when a new term or school year starts.

I guess I will know my starting point or point of comparison when I see my report cards, and I can compare it to last year's grade, and my 2nd term report card when I receive it.

I believe the most difficult task this term will be the exam, as always. The exam is usually the hardest because it will need you to study all the topics you have learned in the past, which all need to be studied individually in the first place. I can deal with this challenging task by 1: Doing the mock test provided and 2: using my book to study. I can also ask my friends to study with me.

A common conception about quadratic functions is that we won't use them in real life, and this is usually said about Math in general. This is because it seems hard to analyze or translate to real life, and people assume that it will be pointless. There are uses for quadratic functions, however. An example was in the mock exam, where it was used to analyze the height of an object thrown, and the the time being measured. It can also be used to analyze income profit or loss for an item being sold, to calculate the path of travels of some objects, and to help calculate for the area of an arch.
