         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think working with parents can be challenging and for beginning teachers especially it can be difficult if you are communicating about challenges that a child is facing. So I think if the mentor can provide advice and suggestions of how to conduct Parent Teacher meetings for the first time then this is very helpful. For example, the sandwich is a useful image - if there is an area where the child is having difficulty/ there is an issue then this should be in the middle of two positive pieces of feedback that the teacher is giving to the parent.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Important part of the traininship takes place inside classroom, however, the work done here can have a reflect / can be the reflect of what happen outside classroom.<br>This way, mentor should provide mentee with the opportunity to contact with parents (by attending and participate in parents meetings) and, whenever exists, also contact with external partners from school, initially guided by mentor but, and the training period, take part in this meetings in an independent way.<br>As mentioned in a previous padlet, mentor should help mentee to "find" the key persons inside school, since the training program should be understand as a global training.</div>]]></description>

Among the biggest problems the teachers deal with are talking to parents and collaborate with the specialists, such as the logotherapists and the ergotherapists. My advice as a mentor would be to organize often meetings, set all together precise goals for every pupil and then inform the parents with more confidence about the progress of their child as a result of a true teamwork.</div>]]></description>

First of all, I think it’s necessary make the mentees familiar with the new environment. So I start doing a tour. In this way the mentee can know the spaces (classrooms, laboratories, gym...). This tour is important because the architecture of my school confuses those who do not know it well. Another aspect that often worries new teachers is the intensive use of my ITCs for educational and organizational reasons. For this reason I devote particular attention to explaining the way in which digital resources are organized. Finally, another important element is to present the mentee to the various contacts and to illustrate the various projects in which the school is involved.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>MENTORING BEYOUN THE CLASSROOM IN MY SCHOOL<br></strong><br></div><div><strong> <br></strong><br></div><div>My school is experiencing a period of transition to multiple organizational and cultural levels: it is in a stable situation of instability.<br><br></div><div>There is much to build and great commitment to find your way around the thousand problems and daily stops. We are all very sensitive and meeting each other is difficult. Meet in the sense of stopping to design, reflect, build basic meanings and practices that can become routine. Archived materials are also difficult to find.<br><br></div><div>The mentees need to know the organization with roles and ways of communicating.<br><br></div><div>They need to be supported to organize the contents, the ways and the value to be given to communications that are not always clear especially for those who have just arrived.<br><br></div><div>The situation of my school forces me to make choices. It is therefore necessary to provide an indication of priority also on planning, programming and specific interventions so as not to invest resources that can be wasted. Time, energy and planning resources.<br><br></div><div>In addition to this organizational situation, my school experiences a period in which there is a strong need to find effective strategies with families to define roles and tasks as well as possible expectations or not.<br><br></div><div>Finally, mentees need to learn to find the most effective personal strategies for developing resilience and maintaining a positive distance in relationships.<br><br></div><div>If these goals are built, a more serene climate is also developed, an organized reticular way more able to integrate even new colleagues and, last but not least, good humor.<br><br></div>]]></description>

Be a mentor for this kind of "new teachers" is a very big challenge because they develope a kind of routine in their teaching method.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I’ve been teaching for almost 30 years and even though I love what I do, I sometimes feel I lack the motivation and energy I once had. And I think it’s not just an age problem: in Portugal (maybe elsewhere, too), teachers are over-burdened with administrative tasks that are time-consuming and not rewarding, I mean, what I really like is teaching and that time - hours wasted with bureaucratic stuff – should be invested, for example, in planning, in developing materials. Insofar, the school should allocate time so that mentors can be available to support a mentee in everything and that includes managing the curricula, assessment criteria, planning and preparing resources and test structure, participating in meetings (with parents or staff), problem-solving techniques and strategies, how to get involved in projects like etwinning and/or Erasmus+. Mentoring beyond the classroom may even include suggesting opportunities for professional development and lifelong learning, or associations of language teachers. For example, the Portuguese <a href="https://www.appi.pt/">APPI</a> – the Portuguese Association of English Teachers) embraces language teachers of all levels, provides TDC and organises conferences, seminars, webinars and workshops. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When a new teacher came to my school, I introduced her to the other teachers, I showed her where the classrooms were, I guided her through some flexible spaces we have in the school for varied learning approaches (plays, music conserts, educational meetings) and I explained her how do we use these venues, we had a talk about the difficulties of our courtyard as far as it concerned the students’ safety. I also informed her about how do we met the parents espessialy at the beginning of the school period and what we talk about in that meeting. We did’t – but we would have- talked about the regulations (both rules and rights), as HANIFE FROM TURKEY mentioned above. <br><br></div><div>Of course when you are mentoring new teachers there also other issues that maybe crucial. For instance inform the new teachers about the school hierarchy, about the bureaucracy about who to go to talk to, or to demonstrate that they will fulfill pastoral work as well as academic work with students or bureaucracy work.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>At least in Spain each group of students has a teacher who performs personalized monitoring of each student, maintains an individual relationship with them and their families, etc. In my experience, a beginner teacher who is in charge of a group of students as a tutor, may have many doubts. It is a job that involves a lot of work and the teacher does not have much time for this task. How can I help my mentee to carry out his task as a group tutor? I think it would be convenient for the mentor to also be a group tutor of the same degree, so they will be together in the group sessions to prepare the tutorials with their respective students. It can also help my mentee to have a scheme to work during the meetings with the parents of their students.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think that all suggestions (of Rachel and of Ontario) are important and should be need of more worlds...Trust and empathy are fundamental in each relationship; so the modeling mutual respect is action that derives from these elements of behavior. Also other titles of Ontario's ideas are important: listening skill is fundamental for each positive relationship; so same mentoring must develop this action as the sharing "real world" challenges: in one world we must be <strong>available </strong>to share, to open, to know my and his/her level of development, in a continuous exchange of experiences.<br>Then all mentoring situations must be live with creativity and despite time (available of mentor and mentee for possible leasure time to spend together...) and space (in school- coffe space or other spaces, or out the school, but pay attention to shipping time...).<br>Last reflection: in Italy is very difficult giving time, because time table of job teacher is more stiff; furthermore spaces school are not usually for free time (or coffe break) meetings!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>As a mentor, I do the typical things all mentors do: answer questions, provide referrals if I can and periodically check in to make sure everything is going well. It has been through this experience that I learned that a mentorship relationship should be mutually beneficial. Through my mentoring, I am forced to constantly “check-in” with myself and make sure I am following my own advice. It forces me to think through how I want my teaching practice to look and what long-term impression I want to leave with my students. Above all, it forces me to make sure I am leading with the best example I can; no one likes to take advice from someone who isn’t already taking their own advice.<br><br></div>]]></description>

Let them attend parent meetings with you so they can gain experience.  Be available on regular basis for them. I have  2 moments a week I'm in my classroom and everyone can come in to ask for help, or just to chat on how things are going. Besides that I'm always available through school email.   Don't assume your mentee will know everything. Set reminders (for example about an outschool activity, what if they get sick, how to enter yearplans into the schoolsystem etc..  And last but not least have fun togheter!<br><br></div>]]></description>
