I was uncomfortable at times because, while I appreciated that he wanted to honor and serve, I am enough of a student of history that I realize the sacrifice that goes along with the duty of serving. He didn't let my concerns stop him. The day after his high school graduation, Toby left for boot camp and my son became a soldier. Recently, he started full-time with the National Guard in Columbia as a paralegal. My father Rafael Gonzalez was in the US Air Force for five years. He joined the military and comes from a long line of military tradition. My Great Grand Father served in both WWII and Korean War. My Grand Father Sgt Rafael Gonzalez served over 18 years and my great Uncle Col. Mike Gonzalez served over 23 years. Thank you for your service. My Paw Paw Teddy was a veteran of the  US Army.
He served in the Vietnam war.
My Paw Paw passed away on July 4th, 2018 and
