         <description><![CDATA[<div>Darius and his father both have depression "Aside from Star Trek- and not speaking Farsi- depression was pretty much the only thing we had in common."(Pg28)<br>Had trouble finding the right medication for his mental health, and controlling his mood swings in 8th grade (pg33)<br>Darius's mom says "People in Iran don't think about mental health the way we do back home." (pg 56)<br><br>"I had nothing to be depressed about. Nothing really bad had ever happened to me. I felt so inadequate. Dad told me I couldn't help my brain chemistry any more then I could help having brown eyes. Dr Howell always told me not to be ashamed."          <description><![CDATA[<div>Darius doesn't feel like he has a connection with his dad. "Sometimes I thought about how I didn't really feel like Stephen Kellners son at all." (pg 14)<br><br>Feels like his dad doesn't like him. "It felt good to have a thing with Dad, when I could have him to my self for 47 minutes, and he could act like he enjoyed my company for the span of one episode." (Pg 18)<br><br>Feels like he doesn't fit in with his mom either. Doesn't fell Persian or American.<br>Feels as though is dad is disappointed in him a lot(pg32)<br>Fells closer to his mom like he can talk "mom pushed a loose strand of hair behind my ear.."&nbsp;<br>Dad is " attentive to Darius's diet" "There's nothing with vegetables that sounds good?" (pg 59)<br>Darius wants to tell his dad stuff but doesn't fell as though he can, "I wanted to tell him how impressed customs officer II that he was an architect." (pg 70)<br>"And I knew Stephen Kellner was relived to have another chance, a new child who wouldn't be such a disappointment."(pg 132) Darius fells that his parents(dad) is disapointed of him, he fells like a disapointment.<br>"And I sat with Stephen and Laleh Kellner as they watched Star Trek."          <description><![CDATA[<div>Darius doesn't have a lot of friends in America "Javaneh was the closet thing I had to a friend at Chapel Hill High School," (pg31)<br>"I liked that I could be silent around Sohrab. That's how I knew we really were going to be friends."(pg94) Darius is able to be silent around Sohrab and its not awkward, Sohrab might become one of his only real friends.<br>"Maybe Sohrab and I really were destined to be friends. Maybe we were."(pg131) Darius really wants to be close with Sohrab he really likes him.<br>"your place was empty for me too" Sohrab said to Darius "I never had a friend either"(196)<br>"It was our last game. Its not that they didn't love me and Laleh, but they were full of Teutonic reserve, and didn't express affection very often." (pg 75) Darius's grandparents on his dads side don't say they I love you a lot but he know that they care about him and Laleh.<br>"For Farbia Bahrami, love was and oppertunety, not a burden."(pg 75) Darius's grandma on his moms side seems to love saying I love you and to she how much she cares for her family.<br>"I loved Sohrab.
