What recipe did you choose? Why?

The grilled porkchops because that is the safest dish plus it's one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes.

What is the purpose of the film? - please do not answer that it's for my class. Why are you excited about making it?

I would argue that my mom can't cook many things, but eating this while growing up was amazing. I'm excited for the end product which is to eat it.

What are the three most important points this video should make?

The most important points this video should aim for is the calm and homey style, emphasis on various angles of shots, and most importantly long time shots.

What do you want the audience to do and/or feel in the end?

Warm and welcomed

What is the ONE thing, if they get nothing else, you want the audience to remember after watching your video?

How good the food looks at the end

Please find 1-3 visual examples (picture, text, video) that represent the style you are trying to achieve. Feel free to include them in their own Padlet box.

A big inspiration in the video I try to take from is Alvin Zhou with a video listed below and Elliot Choy with another video below. In Elliot Choy's video, it is a vlog and mainly has vlog elements, but some of the shots are stable and nice which I take inspiration from (especially shots where you move into it as if it was already placed there)
Text-wise: I want a relaxing video and hope to use longer shots and things relating to comforting and relaxing like natural light from an early morning and hopefully the kitchen which gives homey vibes.

Link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2-KahahFTI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv6y8-nj4BA

What length would you like your film?

I don't know too much about this, but I'd like for it to be 50 seconds, but under 1:30.

Do you have any concerns with the feasibility of pulling this off? Why or why not?

Filming cooking is definitely a difficult thing. Moments happen once and it's a make-it-or-break-it type of situation for filming it. So if I get one shot, I might get too long and fail to get the next shot. I'll have to plan accordingly though.

How did this third week go for you? What was challenging? What could Mr. Burr have done better?

I believe I was a bit more behind than others, so I was certainly on a time crunch. However, apart from a couple no-sleepers, my week went okay. The challenging part was imagining my shots and adjusting to my situation. My mom was feeling sick and had hurt her back, so I had to substitute my sister. While the substitute definitely helped, my mom had brought her friends over and so they basically watched as my mom talked about me to them and why I was filming. As said in my last week's reflection, I have a hard time filming with people watching me so I adjusted clips to the best of my abilities to where I was willing to record. I don't believe that Mr. Burr could've done anything better. Again, it's on me, but I will work on that. I'm quite proud of myself because I filmed some clips at least with people watching me.

What was the most valuable thing you learned this week? Why?

I believe the most important thing is to start. For most of my work, I had been delaying or struggling with how to start it; but by the time I started, it just kept going. Just the idea of "start now, think later" has pretty much saved me in this project.

How did you feel about the storytelling? Are you proud of your project? What went well? What could go better?

I feel my storytelling wasn't amazing, it definitely focused more on the cooking aspect than the story aspect. Apart from the lack of storytelling and difficult filming, I actually enjoyed this project. For most of my projects, I try to do it alone (like my first week) or limit people in it, but I definitely enjoyed cooking with my sister. We had tons of fun which helped me film difficult shots as I felt more comfortable. Another thing that went well, but could be seen as going bad, was my flexibility. Despite not going strictly to the script, I adapted well. As said in my previous ones, some things that could've gone better were my work ethic, my story-telling aspect, and more sleep. I also definitely regret watching your "how to get an A" video before I turned it in. I know I lacked in some aspects, especially in some shaky filming to get more differing shots and story-telling.
