ESSAY

Me, myself and creativity

As Christopher Parker said: “Procrastination is like a credit card; it’s a lot of fun until you receive the bill.” Like every second college student, I felt guilty when I couldn’t finish my to-do list, however, after watching the video of Adam Grant about “Originals” I realized how it is important to catch the sweet spot between pre and procrastination. Because even if I always understand postponing is just wasting your time, I know that sometimes being a procrastinator might help to awaken my creativity.

Firstly, I would like to clarify what sweet spot means in this case. To my mind, the sweet spot can be described as being in the golden middle of precrastination and procrastination by saving your time and energy than doing something early or late. It means when you are in a sweet spot position you can precrastinate and at the same time procrastinate your tasks.

Starting from school time I wanted to be a precrastinator when it came to my studies. Although, I recognized that some tasks such as writing an essay or generating something might need creativity. Therefore, I needed to procrastinate, which meant time to think for me. Because procrastination is not a bad habit for me as for others, it was and still is my imaginative way. Because when you have an assignment, you always have a first idea about how to do it. Accordingly, you should catch that idea but give your mind time to be creative to make something more from it. After, while you are procrastinating you can just make a blueprint of your project as I did to write this essay. Consequently, if you could potentially be in the middle of it, you can only edit your work and insert additional details and it will be the job that wasn’t postponed or accelerated.

Thus, I agree with holding a balance between these habits and only this way may help us to avoid feeling guilty and unsatisfied with the result.
