He explained that although he has been waiting a while to get receive his dental care, it was well worth it and he was happy to be there. Gary came to MOM to get his tooth extracted since he was told it would cost him $650 out of pocket because his insurance didn't cover all of it. He wasn't able/willing to spend that much for the procedure, which is why he was very grateful to be able to get the procedure done free of charge at MOM.

One interesting call they had was when a patient accidentally bit off a piece of a Dentist finger.

She explained how this year was her second MOM. She was very happy to give back in this sort of setting. One memorable thing she mentioned was how as a health professional you should strive to give back, and how it is worth so much more than a paycheck. She mentioned how so many people forget how to give back and only go after money. She seemed genuine happy to be there.

She has diabetes so he was telling us that she really needed to get a few teeth removed, and when we asked her how she felt about it she said "im ready to get these suckers out". They had been at the M.O.M since 6am and they were still really happy to be there and said that everything went smoothly and the people were super helpful, and that he would definitely recommend coming here to anyone which is great to hear. Khaleel had a wonderful personality and really kept the conversation going which I was happy about. This is him and his momma!

Christian (Interviewed by A.J. & Ary) Christian was very nice, polite, and open when Ary and I approached her. Although Christian did not provide us with a memorable quote, her story was genuine. Ary and I saw Christian sitting in the black tent labeled “Dental Hygiene” and decided to approach her. We asked her a couple of questions regarding how she knew about the M.O.M. event, how far she lives from Xfinity Center, what procedure is she getting, and any other thoughts she would like to share with us based on her experience today. Christian, a former University of Maryland, College Park alumnus, lined up outside of Xfinity Center at around 5:00AM. Luckily, she does not live too far and resides in the area (I believe she said Laurel). She came to the event alone. She was there to have her teeth checked out and cleaned. Her dentist also told her that she would need to have her wisdom teeth removed, but that particular procedure was not being offered at the M.O.M. event. Christian heard about the M.O.M. event through Facebook, and this was her first time attending M.O.M. Christian was very thankful to the event sponsors, and did not mind the extremely long wait. I genuinely hope that Christian is able to get her wisdom teeth removed without it causing more harm (both to her health and pockets).

Khaleel drove his mother to the clinic from Baltimore, about a 30-minute drive, because she needed dental work. They arrived at 6 am, an hour before the doors opened, and their total wait time before care was around 6 hours. However, Khaleel stressed that the wait did not feel long because there were so many things to do in preparation abd the transitions between the pre-work processes was so smooth. He brought a folding chair and was sitting with his mother while she sat waiting for her dental work, which was delayed to adjust her blood sugar levels as she's diabetic. He was chipper and happy to talk, and the only complaint he had was the building's wheelchair inaccessibility.

One of the stories that I had the opportunity to listen to was a dental hygienist named Carol who works for Dr.Jerome Yeounans . She spoke to Adaeza and I and told us her main reason for taking part in M.O.M every year. She explained how she has daughters who play soccer and every soccer game she gets coffee from Starbucks before the game starts. When buying her coffee she buys the individual behind her coffee as as well. She does this not because she’s required too because she hopes that her actions will inspire someone else to do the same for someone else. She then related it back to M.O.M, she said that she could be at the office getting paid but instead she'd rather give back to the community. She explained how some people forget the importance of what it means to be a doctor, and M.O.M is a constant reminder to her and her staff that being a doctor is indeed about helping people, but also giving back to the community every chance you get.
