Diet culture is prevalent in society and especially all over social media. Diet culture and eating disorders are directly connected and it needs to be talked about. Eating disorders can take a huge toll on a persons life. They affect your mental AND physical health. Even people without eating disorders participate in disordered eating habits and a disordered mindset without even realizing it because of diet culture. It is incredibly damaging and affects more people than you'd think. I see people around me engage in this kind of behavior and its concerning and can easily turn into something disastrous. Eating disorders also affect a lot of teenage girls a demographic I am apart of and I see this in my day to day life. When you say the word eating disorder around people they think of all of these stereotypes of what a person with an eating disorder looks like or behaves like and I think it is important to spread awareness and clarify it. I would also like to prevent people from engaging in any sort of disordered eating and show all the dark sides of it because there are so many.

This source gives us only one set of data which is shown on a line plot and bar graph. But the data ranges over a much longer period of time and a wider age range. It includes information on the prevalence of eating disorders by age over the different years. The most recent year this data was recorded is 2017 and it shows that 30-34 year olds are most likely to have an eating disorder. After 30-34 year olds are 20-29 year olds and then 15-19 year olds.

Source 1 is a great source that goes extremely in depth to everything relating to eating disorders. It is mostly text since it is a book but it still gives us visual statistics like bar graphs, pie charts, drawings etc. It gives quality information and based on facts only. It was overall very specific and a quality source.

It also provided analysis of the data in short and concise bullet points. It was specific to the particular eating disorder I looked at. It provided a definition of what the eating disorders were. The entire website also provides resources for other mental illnesses and more statistics. It is very easy to navigate aswell.
