Why is it harder to stay balanced with eyes closed?

When you try to balance, your body relies on three main senses: vision, inner ear (vestibular system), and proprioception (sense of body position). Vision helps you see your surroundings and align your posture. When you close your eyes, you lose visual information, making it harder for your brain to coordinate balance. Your body then relies more on your inner ear and proprioception to maintain stability. This can make balancing a bit trickier until you adjust! Your body adjusts by relying more on your inner ear and proprioception. You can practice balancing with eyes closed by standing on one foot or using a balance board. This helps improve those senses!

Freckles are small, concentrated spots of melanin on your skin. Melanin is what gives your skin its color. Freckles form when your skin gets exposed to the sun, and your body makes more melanin to protect itself. Some people have a gene that makes them more likely to get freckles. Genetically, some people have a variant in the MC1R gene, which makes them more likely to get freckles. This gene affects how melanin is produced in the skin, especially in those with lighter skin and hair.

When you get a brain freeze, it's because something cold hits the roof of your mouth, causing blood vessels in your head to rapidly expand and contract. This creates that sharp pain. The reason it makes your head hurt even though it's happening in your mouth is because the nerves in the roof of your mouth send signals to your brain, which can confuse it and make it feel like the pain is in your head. It's called "referred pain."

Right now, it's in a stable phase called "main sequence," where it burns hydrogen to produce energy. In about 5 billion years, it will run out of hydrogen fuel, expand into a "red giant," and possibly engulf the inner planets, including Earth. After that, it will shed its outer layers, leaving behind a hot core called a "white dwarf." This won't explode but will slowly cool over time.

Understanding the sun's life cycle helps us know how long Earth can support life and prepares us for future changes in our solar system.

The myths and stories of bigfoot originally came from native american tribes. The Salish tribe located in the Pacific Northwest like Washington and British Columbia. They call them Sasq'ets and are described as a wild man of the forests. The Lummi tribe in Washington State, they spoke of Ts'emekwes and they were described as powerful spirits. Also the Iroquois tribe in the northeast had tales of "Stone Giants" beasts that were large and hairy beings. Stories of mythical creatures are influenced by regional cultures, nature, and the idea of the unknown. Then common media adapted these stories and sightings of Sasquatch like creatures have been reported for years, to lead into our idea of what bigfoot is today.

Curly hair results from the shape of hair follicles and how keratin is distributed. Follicles are oval or asymmetrical, causing hair to curl as it grows. Genes determine these traits, so curly hair often runs in families.

Humidity affects curly and straight hair differently. In curly hair, moisture in the air can make curls tighter or frizzier, as hair absorbs water and changes its structure. Straight hair might become limp or slightly wavy.
