"Hoverboards have a very low center of gravity, increasing the risk of falls," Dr. Robert Glatter, emergency physician at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, told CBS News. "Riding one safely requires a good amount of core strength to maintain your balance. It often looks a lot easier to ride one than it really is." The study also tracked the number of injuries involving traditional skateboards. During the same two-year time period, skateboard injuries sent 121,398 kids under age 18 to the E.R. Three-quarters of them were boys.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hoverboard-injuries-26000-children-hurt-in-first-2-years-of-sale/

"When hoverboards hit the scene in 2015, they were an immediate success. Also known as self-balancing or two-wheeled boards, these toys can be a fun way to get around. However, many parents began to wonder — just how dangerous are hoverboards. Shortly after their debut, several manufacturers started selling hoverboards that were not inspected for quality or safety." This tells me that hoverboards are helpful because it's easier or fun to get around with, but there really dangerous because they can explode.
OCTOBER 01, 2018

BY UHBLOG

In the article it shows how hoverboards are fun to get around with, but they are dangerous. "Hoverboards are having a hard time of late. No sooner had these fun-looking, futuristic gizmos arrived on the scene than they've seemingly become public enemy #1 amidst a string of safety controversies. In one heart-breaking incident, a family in Louisiana lost their entire home after one of the boards, purchased as a gift on Amazon for their 12-year-old son, started shooting flames from both ends while the battery was being charged."

https://www.sciencealert.com/here-s-why-hoverboards-are-so-dangerous
