Teacher Notes: I have given my kids the teacher notes to paste into their journals. Once they do that, we "take notes" based on what's there. I utilize the Social Studies weekly and have the students to look for information in the text.  When questions are presented to the students, they search the text and underline  their proof to support their and answers.

GROWS
I sometimes struggle with the concept of Social Studies Weekly, because I am accustomed to a traditional textbook.
