Hence, function influences and determines the form of a structure. 

An example by Gilson is when man creates a habitat to shelter himself against the heat, cold, wind, rain, and sunny weather. The availability of the materials needed to build this structure according to the plan of arrangement and order shows the form of a human shelter. Thus, form follow function. In order to create a human shelter which protects him from inconsistent weather and climate, he must gather materials made to perform that purpose. 

Its integral quality which makes it a beautiful architecture shows uniqueness and repeatability, that when the design of the nature changes, the form of the structure also changes. It exhibits the wholeness of parts, integrally connected to each other serving their multiple functions. 

Therefore, if not tied up with function, organic architecture will remain as a skeleton, it will only destroy its integrity, portraying a structure without poetic significance.  

According to Roger Scruton, architecture can express beauty with its fittingness. Its beauty lies within the form and function – pertaining to its proportionality (size and order), space relation, and its practicality.

So, as every part fit to its proper place performing its purpose, the structure will be a unified home which creates gentle harmony. Hence, adequate performance of function produces beauty of the design.
