SUMMARY HADIS JIBRIL : 30/08/2024

In last usrah, I learn about Hadis Jibril or Hadis 40.

Islam is the true religion, with Prophet Muhammad serving as a messenger from God to spread its teachings. The revelation related to Islam and Faith was conveyed by the angel Jibril to Prophet Muhammad in the cave of Hira'. There are five pillars of Islam: declaring the Shahadah (the testimony of faith), praying five times a day, fasting during the month of Ramadan, paying zakat (charitable alms), and performing Hajj for those who are able. There are also six pillars of faith: belief in Allah, belief in angels, belief in the scriptures, belief in the Messenger, belief in the Day of Resurrection, and belief in Qada and Qadr (divine decree and predestination).

We must declare the Shahadah with our own words as a confession of our conversion to Islam. If we love God, we will follow His commands. We pay zakat to purify our wealth and support those in need, recognizing that our sustenance is a blessing that should be shared. Additionally, we learn about the signs of the Day of Judgment, such as widespread violence, a greater number of women than men, and the sun rising from the west.

Therefore, we need to follow God's commands and avoid His prohibitions before the opportunity for repentance closes. We also learn about proper conduct towards people, animals, and plants. Being respectful to all living things is important because manners reflect a person’s faith and character.

On a beautiful Friday afternoon, my naqibah talks about Ihsan. In Islam, Ihsan refers to acting with excellence, sincerity, and dedication in all actions, especially in how one treats others and in the worship of Allah. The concept of Ihsan is mentioned many times in the Qur'an (211 times), and it emphasizes three main aspects:

Being good to others, treating them with kindness and fairness.

Sincerity in actions, meaning that one does things wholeheartedly and with the best intentions.

Doing it for the sake of Allah, which means every action should be done for the approval and pleasure of God, not for personal gain.

If any of these elements are missing, then it is not truly Ihsan.

A clear example of Ihsan is shown through the story of Prophet Yusuf. Despite being wronged by his brothers, who threw him into a well and sold him into slavery, Yusuf maintained his character and integrity. Even after being falsely accused and imprisoned, Yusuf remained steadfast in his faith and trust in Allah. His eventual rise to power in Egypt and the reunion with his family fulfilled his early dream and showed the mercy and justice of Allah. Prophet Yusuf’s story teaches us about patience, perseverance, and the importance of maintaining good conduct, even in the face of hardship.

In everyday life, Ihsan can be seen in small actions, like helping a friend with their studies. For example, if you help a friend understand a subject they’re struggling with, you’re doing it for their benefit and for the sake of Allah, without showing off or expecting anything in return. In this way, you’re improving not only their understanding but also your own, and this is a form of Ihsan.

By practicing Ihsan, we strive to embody excellence in both our spiritual and worldly actions, seeking to please Allah in all that we do.
