We decided to make one part of the heart of a series circuit and the other two a parallel. The left and middle of the heart are in parallel and the right side is in series 

We used one 47 ohm resistor. We chose the 47 ohm resistor because we measure the voltage of the LED and the current in the series part. We found that without a resistor if the voltage is too high, the lights could blow out. 

We had one switch   before the parallel circuit that would control the entire circuit. - The most challenging part of working on our circuit was getting it to actually light. Once we finally figured out how to make the parallel circuit work it was smooth sailing
-  I'm proud of how we were able to have fun and get work done at the same time.
