Student-mapping. Students can write each of these words down, creating a map where they have to draw arrows and make connections from word-to-word, referencing this wall for visuals and spelling. For example, students can connect all of the water-related terms, the USA terms; etc.

Cross- Curricular Sentence building. Students can refer to this wall when writing these words in the social studies context, since they are not frequently taught. If they need to remember how to spell them, they can take a quick glance for reference.

Flashcards. This wall can be used as the base for students to create flashcards, if we are focusing on terms and their definitions.

We can pull down the classroom map, and students can refer to these terms as we try to locate where they are or could occur on the map!

Since there are some missing letters, students can work together to try to fill in the WHOLE word wall! The first group that fills the whole thing out gets a prize.

DO include lots of pictures in your word wall.

DON'T forget to add the whole alphabet in the word wall.

DO allow room to add words when your students come up with more.

DO make sure to allow your students constant access to the word wall, so they can view it when they need it.

DON'T forget to check your word wall TWICE before publishing it, so your students are looking at correct spelling!
