"Blanche" her name symbolizes purity and innocence, contrary to her action, " She carefully replaces the bottle and washes out the tumbler at the sink "

Blanche's name means white -> white can be depicted as light -> contradictory as she avoids the LIGHT and does not want to be seen in LIGHT. (not sure about this point tho :p
