In the 1980's anime became more well known. I did some research and I found that this is where anime really took off. This time was an important transition time period where the medium began to take greater risks and experiments within genre and and form. Throughout this decade they began to see what the majority of people are interested in. If I were a story creator I would definitely try a few things out to see what the vast majority of people like more.

After conducting some research, I found the most popular movies and shows in the 1980's. Starting of strong the most popular series was titled "City Hunter" this is a classic anime that had everything from comedy, action, and drama. The most popular movie in this decade was titled "Angel's Egg" this movie is a high-quality anime as most would say, this movie explores religious faith. The 1980's is where Anime became a worldwide phenomenon.

Super Dimension Fortress Macross (1982)

One of the major things in this series was to focus on the relationships and romance between the characters. They created this story to have a lot of appeal and attraction to a wider audience as that is what they were wanting. Anime had been around for a few decades by time this series came out so creators and viewers were more comfortable watching and creating something that was more complex, but would still catch the eye of anyone who came across it.

Dallos (1983)

This anime was released direct to video, so instead of it being in the movies or waiting for it on TV, they would go out to the fans and tell them if they paid they would send out the video to them. The creators of Dallos were able to get funding for their animation, which this is why they released it straight to video instead of releasing it. They were even able to make money out of it by selling it to fans. They were able to put really anything in this movie since it was not going into a movie theater or any place of that sort.

Grave of the Fireflies (1988)

This was based on semi autobiographical story, written about two specific children during World War 2. This film is a very sensitive and serious film. I watched some clips off the internet and I was like wow a movie has never made me feel like this. It felt like an emotional wave, it was kind of strange, but the animator did great. The work based off of the five minutes I watched makes me want to know what else there is to it. The bits and pieces add up to one big picture.

The 1980's was a ground breaking and historical time in the Anime world. This is where Anime became known world wide. The creators of began to explore new genres and topics, which helped gain popularity towards anime. Anime has a long history starting in 1910, this decade of time (1980's) really made a huge impact in the World of Anime. In my opinion if the creators did not do as much as they accomplished in the 1980's, Anime would be no where close to it's popularity today. Yes of course people would know about it, but it would not have it's own section on Netflix if it was not as successful as it turned out to be in the 80's.
