Open Conflict or Crisis???

The Space Race was a crisis, as they were nonviolent. History.com states, “When the commanders of the two crafts officially greeted each other, their “handshake in space” served to symbolize the gradual improvement of U.S.-Soviet relations in the late Cold War-era.” This quote explains how The Space race was never a open conflict. I can relate this to when I have arguments with friends and they are easily resolved after talking.

The US’s ideas of the soviets was against the human right #2(Don’t discriminate). History.com states, “Astronauts came to be seen as the ultimate American heroes, and earth-bound men and women seemed to enjoy living vicariously through them. Soviets, in turn, were pictured as the ultimate villains, with their massive, relentless efforts to surpass America and prove the power of the communist system.” This piece of evidence explains how the US pictured the soviets as villains in a racist way, which is against human right #2.
This can relate to me accusing my friend for cheating in a chess game after a draw.

Political ideas that shaped the conflict.

Perhaps the greatest political idea that shaped this conflict was the USSR and US's determination to prove themselves superior over another. History.com states, "Beginning in the late 1950's, space would become another dramatic arena for this competition, as each side sought to prove the superiority of its technology, its military firepower and–by extension–its political-economic system." This helps explain how different political ideas between powerful countries resulted in conflict. This is similar to me arguing with my sister to prove my opinion during a conflict.

The Space Race was an area of competition between the Us and soviets regarding achievements in the field of space exploration during the cold war.

It officially began when the Soviets successfully launched a satellite in orbit. The US was determined to prove themselves superior to the soviets and they too, began to launch satellites into space. According to History.com, it says, “Sputnik’s launch came as a surprise, and not a pleasant one, to most Americans. In the United States, space was seen as the next frontier, a logical extension of the grand American tradition of exploration, and it was crucial not to lose too much ground to the Soviets.” This quote helps explain how the US were not happy with the soviets succeeding to send satellites in space and how the Space Race began.
This seems similar to me trying to get all A's last year after my friend had all 100%'s on his report card.
