When you have the same level of proficiency for the colleagues, you may share your skills and experience on a specific topic. The group has to be well-organized and the members should work on the same subject. When many people meet regularly for their similar subjects, we can talk about different types of peer coaching.

They can do this in personal supervision like challenges in
self-exploration, culture, some solutions to interventions, and dilemmas in
work area. As a department chair I implemented peer coaching and I can say it
was beneficial to both of us. I can scale my experience with at least 8 out of
10. Peer coaching helps especially the new teachers not feeling isolation and
learning a lot.

Especially math is difficult to a lot of people and new teachers may
feel they cannot succeed to teach. I believe that when a more experienced
teacher wants to peer coaching, he/she should come together with the other
teachers and brainstorm on lesson plans, classroom management and other items.
This means peer coaching should target to increase amount and quality of
learning.

Having met with the other teachers, the person who is doing the peer
coaching should also watch the other teacher while teaching. This observation
is very valuable for the new teacher. After the observation, they have to meet
one more time to discuss about his opinions with the observed teacher and give
some suggestions

This feedback should be
made in a positive manner in order not to make the other person upset. Since we
are humans, we have feelings and cannot live like robots. When somebody makes a
very negative comment about us, we mostly heel frustrated and this decreases
our enthusiasm.
