My hero is someone that I mostly consider as a model person and not as someone who has saved me in any way. That person is my volleyball coach. She has studied Tourism and Hospitality Management and is a professional volleyball player who currently plays in AO Aigaleo. She has been my coach for two years and there are a lot of things that I admire about her. Firstly, she is one of the kindest and sweetest people I know. Apart from inspiring me to become a better person and athlete, she is always very positive about everything and willing to help me and give me any advice whenever I need her. When she is on the court she is very powerful and actively playing on the team with a bright smile at all times. In the future I dream of becoming like her not only in terms that are about volleyball, but also in ones that are about her attitude towards life.

- Anna Fatsi

It is true that all young children are accustomed to playing with doll-heroes who have superpowers, wear a cape and who with one move can change the world for the better. But are these the real heroes? The heroes in real life are all those who contribute to the betterment of society and the world by providing various services.

Typical examples of such people ,especially nowadays, when the whole of humanity faces a pandemic, are doctors and nurses who on a daily basis try to help with self-denial as many people as possible! Furthermore, the firefighters whose contribution, especially in summers ,when Greece faces serious problems with forest fires,is great. Also, paralympians deserve our greatest admiration as they give lessons of will power !And there are so many other people who really offer valuable services. They are the <<invisible>> heroes of life who don’t wear a cape and aren't always clean and well-dressed.These are the people who should be role models instead of the wrong role models promoted by television, internet and social media.

In my life my hero is my mother. She is the most significant person in my life!

People say that they admireonly one person. Most of times, this person is a singer or generally a celebrity. But , my heroes are 3 people.
My family members are the people who i love the most in this world. My family consists of my mother, my father and my older brother. They are so many things I adore about my family; First of all, we care a lot about each other and when times get hard , we are all for one and one for all. But let me say some things about every single member of my family...My dad is my big weakness. He's the person I want to look a like in the future. He is a perfectionist professional in his job. He works really hard because he wants to offer his children what they want and need. Let's talk about my mum. SHE IS THE BEST MUM IN THE WORLD; She works a lot too,but when she comes home frome her job she tries to spend time with me and my brother. She loves her children with all her heart; We are her life , as she says. My brother is 3 years older than me. Can I tell you a secret? I miss the old days when he was a kid. Now he is an adult and I can see how fast time runs...I have to admit that he annoys me and makes me angry all the 24/7 , but I love him a lot. When he is not with me i think about him a lot , because he is a part of me.
They are so many things about them not even all the papers in the world would be enough for me to write them. I am so lucky to have them in my life; I hope everyone feels like i do about my family , because that is what I call real hapiness. These are my Heroes <3

- Kalliopi Sotiropoulou -

Nowadays most teenagers start to gain admiration for some people who consider them role models. My role model is Katerina Stefanidi, world champion in pole vault.

To begin with, Katerina Stefanidi is a Greek pole vaulter. She won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games with a jump of 4.85 meters and has also competed at the 2012 and the 2020 Summer Olympics. She is the current European Outdoor Champion and a two-time World Indoor bronze medalist. Katerina Stefanidi has won a total of ten medals and she was named the European Women's Athlete of the year in 2017 and the Greek Female Athlete of the year. Because of her achievements she is widely regarded as the greatest female athlete in the history of Greek sport.

Furthermore, Katerina Stefanidi is a person that anyone can admire because in every race she participates she shows her stubbornness and perseverance without thinking whether she will win or not. She became an Olympic gold medalist because she did not think about winning the medal, she knew that only being in the stadium and representing her country, she felt that this experience was the biggest victory. Katerina Stefanidi is also an example to be imitated by all people because despite the difficulties she goes through, she trains countless hours and works hard to make her homeland and her family proud.

To conclude, such people make the world a better place as they motivate young people to try to pursue their careers by working hard and always having morals and courtesy.

MY HEROFirst: a real hero isn’t just someone that saves people but is someone that can help, can encourage, can make someone smile etc.Second: I think that my favourite heroes are every doctor because they help people and usually save lives, the firefighters because they always risk their own lives to save another one, the policemen that risk their life too and bring in the right path the criminals, every parents that always make the children smile and bring out the best in them.In the end I would say that you can be a hero too: wear a mask, do the vaccine, help the people that you can help without problems and respect everyone.

Who’s my hero? This is a difficult question to answer. Probably my dad could be my personal hero; he makes me calm when I am upset, he always helps me to find hope even in difficult moments. But to answer this question I chose someone else, my uncle Paolo Marchiori. He’s my mother’s brother, he is about forty years old and works in Ferrari as a mechanic. He’s plain and not very tall (similar to me), he has blond hair (with my own haircut) and green eyes. During the week he stays in Maranello and at the week-end he comes to visit my maternal grandparents (his parents). Near my grandparents' house there is his shed where he goes to work on and give new life to his old vintage pieces: cars, motorcycles, three-wheelers… The shed once belonged to my grandfather who, as a truck driver, used it for his own truck.

I think he’s a hero because he is always working and when he's not working, he helps my grandparents, does garden work or also houseworks. Similar to me, he is very precise and he likes to do what he has to do well and wisely. Last year, for example, he decided to fix all the shutters of my grandparents' house; so he removed the shutters/ blinds and, with the help of my brother and me we sanded the shutters and then we repainted them with a beautiful color. Some months ago I helped him to fix the gutter of my grandparents' porch that was clogged and overloaded with the weight of the water and the leaves that were deposited there. For my exams he helped me prepare a model combustion engine; he took an old non-working “ciao” engine and dissected it, made a pedestal and colored the different ducts. He also repaired my brother’s motorcycle. Once he even saved the life of my grandfather who has heart problems. My uncle gave him a heart massage following the instructions of a doctor on the phone. And he made a lot of other things that I didn’t mention and every day he always does a lot of things. I think he is a hero, because he works day and night, he takes care of my grandparents and is always willing to help others. He is a plain person, but in his small way he is a hero to me.

Frison Michelangelo

Paolo Emanuele Borsellino was an Italian magistrate, victim of Cosa Nostra in the Via D'Amelio massacre together with his five bodyguards: Agostino Catalano, Emanuela Loi (first woman to be part of an escort and also first woman of the State Police to fall during service), Vincenzo Li 🤬, Walter Eddie Cosina and Claudio Traina.

Together with Giovanni Falcone, Paolo Borsellino is considered one of the most important and prestigious personalities in the fight against the mafia in Italy and internationally.

Mr Borsellino was born in Palermo on January 19, 1940 in the popular neighborhood of Kalsa, where he met Giovanni Falcone during a football match.

Falcone, eight months older than him, with whom Borsellino had a friendship until his death which took place two months before the one of Borsellino.

Probably the most important part of his life was the period between 1985 and 1987, when he took part in the so-called maxiprocesso with which he condemned 342 mafiosi. In those years for security reasons together with his family and his friend Falcone, he was transferred to the Asinara prison.

On 19 July 1992, after having lunch in Villagrazia di Carini with his wife Agnese and their children Manfredi and Lucia, Paolo Borsellino went with his bodyguards to via D'Amelio, where his mother and sister Rita lived. At 4:58 pm a Fiat 126 stuffed with TNT, which was parked under his mother's house, detonated as the judge passed, killing the five officers and Borsellino.

For me these two people are heroes because, despite knowing to be in danger, they continued working against the mafia fearlessly.

Nicola Bernardi

It’s true that kids usually play with doll-heroes with superpoters. Are we sure they are real heroes?

The answer is easy: NO. For me the real heroes of nowdays are people who fight everyday to reach a goal, to help other people or to save our planet. There are a lot of examples I could mention: doctors, firefighters, soldiers, people who do charity, people who have two jobs to feed their family…

The person I want to talk about is Beatrice Maria Adelaide Marzia Vio (Bebe Vio).

She was born in Venice, in 1997. She has been practicing fencing since the age of 5 years. At the age of 11 she was stricken with meningitis. Her situation worsened over time and it forced her at the amputation of all her limbs. She didn’t give up, and a year after the illness, she returned to practice fencing.

She won two medals at 2016 Rio Paralympics Games, and two at 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, in fencing of course.

I chose to speak about her because I love sport, and I think she is one of the most important Italian athletes. She survived the Holocaust, but for many years she did not want to tell anything to the world, until in 1997 she participated in a documentary in which she testified to the existence of the prison camps, this fact made me understand the person who she is, in fact, one of the things that made me passionate about his story is the courage with which she faced every difficulty without fear and with dignity.

On 19th January 2018 our President of the Republic appointed her a senator for life to have illustrated the homeland thanks to her social merits. This made me even more passionate by making me reflect again on how many horrible facts she had to go through, but always resisting with great determination. Determination is a quality that Iam trying to develop more and more. The last thing, on 15th April 2021, she was elected presidential candidate for combating the phenomena of intolerance, racism, anti-Semitism. This woman indirectly gave me a lot of advice on how to improve in all areas, giving me courage, determination and making it clear that no person is inferior to another, for these points I chose her as my hero.

Our heroes today, in my opinion, are all those who, in a situation as difficult as this pandemic, work hard and for many hours to save lives; all those who volunteer to lend a hand to people in need. Ordinary people who do their duty as a citizen of the world. People who want to give an effective hand to get out of this horrible situation as soon as possible. People who face very great dangers and who risk their lives to contribute to the improvement of OUR life on earth.

In movies we always see heroes who want to save their cities or even the entire world with their superpowers and their bravery. Unfortunately in reality no one has powers.

But there are some people who don’t wear capes: they can be called REAL HEROES.

These heroes are normal people who want to help others; they are determined to achieve their goals, they protect people, they are self-sacrificing, selfless and honest.

They inspire us to act like them.

My elementary school teacher is my inspiration, because she was my main figure during primary school.

Giorgio Perlasca was born in Como on 31st January 1910. In the 20s he strongly sympathised with the fascists, particularly with the “dannunziana” and nationalist ideology. Afterwards, he left as a volunteer, first for East Africa and then Spain where he fought by the side of General Franco. On his return to Italy, at the end of the Spanish Civil War, he no longer supported Mussolini's choices of alliance with Germany and of the introduction of the racial laws in 1938. However, he never became an antifascist.

When the Second World War broke up, he was sent as an official delegate with the status of Diplomat to the East Curtain countries. At the time of the armistice between Italy and the alliance (8th September 1943) he was in Budapest: he refused to adhere to the Italian Social Republic and is therefore committed for some months in a castle reserved for diplomats.

In October 1944 the systematic persecution, violence and deportation of citizens of Jewish religion began. Perlasca managed to escape the controls on the committed diplomats and fled. He first hided with acquaintances, and then he found refuge in the Spanish Embassy. Here he began collaborating with Sanz Briz, the Spanish Ambassador had started issuing safe conduct passes to protect Hungarian Jews. At the end of November Sanz Briz had to leave Hungary so as not to recognize the Szalasi government. Perlasca presented himself as Brinz's substitute and he kept the Spanish Embassy going almost on his own, with risk of being discovered by the Nazis and pressed by the need of finding food for the Hungarian Jews crowded in his “protected houses” along the Danube. He succeeded in preventing their deportation until the red Army arrival, saving 5218 Jews.

He was made prisoner, then freed after some days, and he finally entered into Italy, where he started living a normal life. Being a very reserved man, he never revealed to anyone, not even his family, his story of courage, unselfishness and solidarity. Until in the Eighties some Hungarian Jewish women started searching the Spanish diplomat who had saved their lives during the Second World War. Through the Budapest Jew community newspaper, they found him in Padua. In this way, his story emerged from years of silence.

A very important hero to me is my grandpa.

He inspires me, he’s special to me and he teached me to be brave and kind in every situation. Since he was a child, he loved working in the big farm that his family got with all the countryside fields, but he loved going to the city centre with his friends too. He spent his life working hard on the farm and loved his entire family.

Everyone in Cittadella knew him, he was very famous. They all loved him, because he was the funniest, optimistic, the hardest worker and he had a fantastic sense of humor, because I always laughed when I stayed with him. Even in the last period, because of the illness he didn’t remember some things, he told me all the stories of his past, and some adventures that he did with his family. He loved me a lot. I was very important to him, but I think that he loved me more when I kissed him on the cheek, because everytime that I did it, he smiled at me and his eyes sparkled.
A few years ago he went to Padua and he won the 65th Award for work and economic progress, because he was the oldest hard worker in the province of Padua.

He was so proud of me and all of our family, he loved us for infinity, and, even if he is no longer alive, I know that he will be with me forever.

Toniolo Eleonora

She taught me how to cook, to tidy up the house, to take care of myself, and to ignore what people say about me. My mum really loves me and I know it because she looks at me and she smiles, she is my heroine, my point of reference for everything. She is brave, strong and she is different from other women. Thanks Mom for what you do everyday for me…

Now my dad, he is the only man I trust, he is my rock, he would give his life for me, he always protects me, respects me and gives me affection. Dad can do a lot of things and I admire him a lot. He taught me how to barbecue, how to cook good pasta, how to ski, swim, study, and how to be happy in this world. I admire him for the life he has.

In my opinion, real heroes are the ones who help poor people, children who aren’t going to have a bright future because they can’t afford to go to school or buy any food, medical treatment or drug. Among famous people who gave funds to build schools we can find LeBron James, one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He paid the entire cost of the construction of the new “I Promise” school, located in Akron, Ohio, his home town. He knows how kids grow up in those places, and he wants them to build up their future in a school, and not in a gang in the streets, becoming drugdealers or even murderers and going against the law. He wants them to chase their dreams, make friendships that will last long and develop an open mind. He founded his own LeBron James Family Foundation as well, an association that helps the kids and their families in Akron by giving them focusses on education and other educational initiatives, but the list is not finished yet. LeBron is an active supporter of many other charity associations. Among those we can find Children’s Defense Fund. He is also an insipiring figure for kids who want to join the NBA and make basketball one of their main passions, in particular for American kids. This happened to me when I was little. I loved watching those gigantic men dominating the game since their first step. They were -and most of them still are- freaks of nature. He loves helping his people, so I admire him. He doesn’t want to look rich, he wants other people to live a normal life, like everyone should do, but they can’t because of many and many different causes.

My hero is my mother. She’s always there for me: for give me advices, for comfort, for help me… she is especially an example that I want follow. From an early age she wanted to be a teacher and she nurtured her dream turning it into reality and for this I’m proud of her. She always says that I try to give the better in the things I do and that I don’t have to take anything for granted. When I was child, I thought that she was evil because many times she didn’t buy me any toys or didn’t treat me like others mom treated their spoiled children. Now I realize that was the best thing that she could, because I grew up with principles that among those teenagers of today we see less and less: the respect and the gratitude. In the years our relationship has been strengthened and daily I tell her what happens at school or with friends. I think that this summer was the most difficult moment for the family because my grandad, mom’s father, died. For the first time she needed me and I didn’t need her, and I think that this is a normal thing in a mother-daughter relationship. When I was I child I thought that my mother was indestructible, now realize that she isn’t and that grew up we give help each other. I’m happy of the relationship we have because a lot of people have never known their mothers, and for this I’m grateful. So after everything we lived together, I can say that my mother is my hero.

Maybe we didn’t give the right importance to the word “hero”, connecting it only with non-existent characters on television, those that we have admired and envied since we were children. But maybe if you analyze it, this word can have an important and almost charming meaning, that makes you reflect about the people you know who deserve this definition. So who’s a hero to me? For me a hero is someone, (a person or an animal or who knows) that makes you feel at home, loved, respected, understood and that is always present when you need them. There are many types of heroes, with a different reason why they are considered as such. Everyone has their heroes, but often there is one that stands out among the others. Among my heroes, there is my mother, my star. Being a child is complicated, growing up is complicated, but being a parent is difficult too and I see how my mom tries to do her best to give me the best life I can have. My mom is my hero because when I feel bad or I have to deal with everyday problems, she always notices it, even though I do everything to hide my feelings. I don’t know how she can see them, I don’t know if she sees my sadness by looking in my eyes, my happiness by my movements, anger by my mouth and the anxiety by my hands that keep moving as if they were alive. I think I’m a complicated person but anyway my mother can always understand what I exactly need and she does everything to make me feel good. I remember when one evening I discovered that my ex best friend did a bad thing to me and I was really sad. During the dinner my mom immediately noticed it despite I seemed to be able to show an everyday neutral attitude. I see her as a hero because she is a fantastic person, always available and kind with everyone. She isn’t selfish and maybe sometimes she should think more about herself because her priority is her children and, to make us happy, she forgets what makes her happy. When people say ‘I love you’, they often say that in a superficial way and they don’t really mean it. When they do so, they are taking away the true meaning of love; my mom isn’t like that, when she tells me that she loves me, I know that she says it because she cares about me as I care about her too. Mom is mom and it will always be like that, she will know everything about me and my life and she will be ready to help me with the difficulties of life, supporting me and my choices during my growth.

She is my foundation and she is my hero.

-Eleonora Giacobbo

Italy was the first country in Europe to be overwhelmed by the virus in 2020 and was one of the first to impose a national lockdown. I think the heroes of this moment are, without a doubt, the doctors and nurses. One of these was Giuseppe De Donno, a great doctor, father of plasma therapy, who first started Covid treatment with hyperimmune plasma transfusions, the controversial therapy that involved infusing the blood of coronavirus-infected patients into other patients. During Covid he fought like a lion to save hundreds of lives, he often against everything and everyone. In a short time Donno became the best known chief doctor in Italy. In the medical field, not everyone was convinced of his theories. His plasma cure for Covid was never officially recognized, even though the results of his experiment looked positive. He managed to get an experimentation of his method with the University of Pavia. Doctor Giuseppe De Donno, after having saved many lives, was however marginalized and disappointed, he went back to being a general practitioner. Doctor De Donno fell into depression and committed suicide one July afternoon, in his home. For this hero we have the memory of a doctor who tried with all his heart to save human lives and give smiles and hopes. Thank you

DESCRIPTION: My favorite hero is Iron Man, whose real name is Tony Stark: he is really nice, and also a multi-billionaire. He is the sixth character created by Stan Lee for Marvel Comics and drawn by Don Heck. Two heroes, Ant-man and Wasp, founded a team of superheroes ready to fight to protect the planet, and the team was called: Avengers. Among the Avengers there is for example Iron man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, and many others. Tony Stark has never backed down by providing weapons and technology to his government. To hide his double identity he makes believe that Iron Man is actually his bodyguard ready to spring into action in the moments of danger. Iron Man has changed the look of the armor very often, also adapting it to the various missions to be fulfilled. In some stories this character had to face a very big problem for him: alcoholism. Unlike all the other Marvel superheroes, Iron Man didn’t receive superpowers from radiation or external agents, but only thanks to his intelligence and his ability as an inventor.

STORY: Tony Stark, an ingenious inventor, son of a wealthy family, was wounded in an Asian battlefield while testing the weapons he created for the USA government. A sliver of shrapnel lodged in his heart, because of this, he built an incredible armor not only to escape imprisonment, but also to save his life.Tony Stark built the first Iron Man costume and when he got home he started playing the hero. Stark came into contact with other heroes, creating a team to fight the threats of the planet. Tony Stark received an artificial heart to replace his damaged one, but had physical problems. A life spent drinking to socialize developed in him an addiction to alcohol. After many upgrades to the costume, the inventor realized that his armor was taking power and conscience. So Stark decided to reveal his identity as Iron Man to the world by agreeing to meet the Secretary of Defense of the United States of America. Tony proposed a "Superhuman Registration Act", to show, as he did, their superhero identity, but many refused and so began a "civil war" between superheroes. The "civil war" between superheroes ended in Stark's favor but there were many deaths and also the tragic death of Captain America. After the war, Iron Man has joined a renewed team of avengers, to rebuild the world and protect it from new threats of all kinds.

My Hero / My Role Model
Every person in this world, during their lives, admire, at least, one person, and consider them as their role models or their heros. They, may, have chosen them from their daily lives, family or the society. Their heros can be extended to every section and be admired by many people.
Personally, i believe that, two of my role models, that i admire the most is Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla. Those two great scientists has given to our society their theories and inventions, in order to what we are today. Albert Einstein, a great man that was a Physicist, impressed me with his knowledge about space, and physics in our galaxy. His physic - mathematic equation changed the way we think about the outer space, and helped thousands of scientists to find new worlds, such as planets, galaxies, and, especially, black holes.
Nikola Tesla, a great inventor that i thank him, about him finding the Alternative Currency. Which means, that without it we wouldn't have lamps, refrigerators, air conditioning systems, etc. I admire his whole effort that he put ,in order to invent and offer us these things.
On the whole, these two great figures are my role models / heros , because they cared and wanted to make a better future for the new generations and their tons of work that they done, in order to figure out these extraordinary things, about the outer space and the "invisible" power of electricity.

My Hero: Lewis HamiltonWe all have a hero; for some their hero is a loved one and for others (as in my case) he is a sporting flag, in fact my hero is a legend of Formula One: Lewis Hamilton.Lewis Hamilton was born in a London suburb that he himself defined as a "slum", in fact he does not come from a rich family. Moreover as a child he was subjected to racial discrimination, which however served to make him stronger, as he declared . In fact, Hamilton is the first mulatto driver in history to have participated in a Formula One Grand Prix.Hamilton also has a disabled brother, who according to him taught him that when you fall you can always get up with serenity. At first glance he is not nice, partly because of his bravado and partly because of his aggressive character that makes him seem arrogant; but underneath that "bad boy" shell is a strong character (also reinforced by being bullied as a boy). I love, and a little envy, his ability to recognize and control his emotions. I like his hunger for victory perhaps for the awareness of the sacrifices made by his father to be able to make him run and for the fact of never giving up and putting his soul into everything he does.Even if I'm not a fan of him I like how he rides in the car, his knowing how to be aggressive the right without impropriety. I like his continuous meticulous pursuit of perfection, because Hamilton is not only a driver, but he is also a great mechanic who leaves nothing to chance; he is never satisfied with the result, and continues to work hard to achieve an ever greater goal.I conclude by sharing a sentence that he said and that I like very much.“A defeat teaches more than a victory, you learn to keep your head up, to get up and to always leave with a positive thought”.
