The thing that stood out to me most between Native Americans and African Americans, was how both their cultures were covered up and/or eliminated. I think that the white, imperialistic views were demonstrated with both races. You see a lot of similarities between how the Natives and the Africans were treated in America. Things like forcing certain religions, moving people to areas. The Black population may not have been moved, but there are black parts of every city that have higher drug and crime rates. When I say Compton, I doubt you think of a middle-class family eating breakfast before the kids go to school and the parents go to work.

I think the US can make amends. I think we are always making amends. I know with voting amends are still being made to make sure more people vote. It is important to make amends because the world is always changing. 70 years ago, if two guys walked down the street holding hands and flirting, they probably would've got their faces beat in. Now, most of the world doesn't even recognize it as something different or unpleasing.

By buying their stolen land back, they not only get their native stomping grounds back, but there is also a carbon offset because these forests are flourishing so much, which the native communities are getting paid for. Some people may say it's not right to buy back stolen land, but this has been going on for hundreds of years. I think it's to the point where the native people need to take matters into their own hands, simply because the United States government is STILL failing them

I participated in the "Homeland, Crow Nation" activity. The activity talked about sacred home grounds to the Crow. Places like the Yellowstone River and the Black Hills are sacred grounds. The Crow hosts the largest Native American festival, a parade, which brings in about 50,000 people to their area where they celebrate culture and tell stories.

Describe how this lesson and others like it could impact student education - provide specific examples from this lesson and concepts covered this semester

This lesson shows us many different ways we can incorporate Native people into our learning. If teachers started using the Native Knowledge 360 to young students, it would open up their eyes to the truth about the Native People. Teaching these ways at a young age will keep people more open minded to things like antiracism in later years of their life.
