Currency: 2002
Relevance: Acne is a common skin disease that is caused by sebum being over produced in a pore. The sebum can be joined with bacteria and dead skin cells in the pore. Once this happens, it fills up the pore and looks like a white head or a black head. Over 17 million people in the United states have this skin disease. You can try to prevent acne by washing your face with soap, and trying to cleanse your pores. However, washing your face too much may result in dry skin. This means your skin can start to peel off and crack. You can prevent dry skin by doing oil free moisturizer. The best you can do is to see a dermatologist about acne. Acne may disappear later in your lifetime, or after puberty. Trying not to eat sweets like chocolate and drinking lots of water can also help to prevent acne. Acne is sometimes dependent on the foods that you eat, so try to have a healthy and balanced diet. If you can, try to reduce your stress.

Authority: The source is Gale Virtual Reference Library.
