In the first session, I learned about the general feautures of the MATATAG Curriculum- somehow realized that through this change, Education System in the Philippines would be better than before that learners performance will increase in all kinds of assessments and not only thru the revision of the curriculum but most of all our collective dedication to achieve our goals and mission.

In KS1 particularly in Grade 2, 7 subjects will reduce into 5 subjects; in Grade 3, 8 subjects will become 6 subjects and in Grades 4 to 10, it will remain 8 subjects. the learning competency of K to 12 curriculum, from 11,733 competencies it will be reduced for a total of 3,457 competencies in MATATAG Curriculum.

The Matatag Curriculum went through a 2 year plan by a team of education specialist. They decongested the K to 12 curriculum with 11,738 breaking down to 3,457 and anchored it to every key stage following a spiral and specific lessons/learning competencies. The alignment of learning for kinder to Grade 3 has a clear overview which is beneficial to learners mastery of the lessons.
