It does not matter how someone appears or how they seem, it is about who they are when you get to know them. I am very quick to judge somebody by appearance, but recently I have also been giving people the chances and getting to know them before I judge them. It was a real eye opener to see how fortunate I am to have consistency in my life and to know I will always have food on the table for me at my home, and I will always have hot water to shower in, etc. Over all, I think that community service should be required, but I think that ten hours is a little much and I feel like for people like me who is an athlete it was extremely hard to find the time to make the ends meet on this project and I know I am not the only one that could feel this way. It is a very time consuming project, but the feeling you receive after is well worth it. When you give back to the community you just feel on top of the world, especially when you can make a difference. I gave those kids something to look forward to every week, and if that is all I could do for them then I will sleep well at night. So I usually went on mondays and Wednesday’s and sometimes tuesdays and Thursday. I would get there and immediately a few kids would run up to me and they would already have in mind what they wanted to do with me. The boys were more of the ones who wanted to play on the computer or play outside and play tag while the girls wanted to color and play inside. Most of the time we would end up outside playing on the playground. Some of the kids were attention seeking, and i understood, because they come from homes where they may not get attention, eat every night, or have anyone to play with so it was a joy to light up their eyes when I was there to play with them!!
