I learnt the common characteristics of a good teacher and they are, humorous, Creative, engaging, patient, passionate. I also learnt some good strategies which are being shared by my peers from their own experience as a student. Good strategies to consider are experiential learning, multi sensory learning, drill and practice, peer teaching, explicit teaching, differentiation and I do, we do, you do. These are useful information for us to apply with out students in future.

The teacher creates a profound impact in the student’s learning. The teacher who is engaging, encouraging, committed, energetic and uses humour will leave a lasting impression on the student. Strategies for a great lesson include multi sensory methods, peer learning (buddy system), differentiation, hands-on and experiential. A successful lesson includes explicit teaching that are “I do” “we do” “you do”.

The characteristic and strategies of teachers and educators are everlasting and deeply embedded in student's minds, as from the sharing by our fellow classmates of their personal memorable experiences.

Some characteristics that were commonly shared were teachers being engaging, energetic, passionate, effective, skillful, humourous, knowledgeable, and most importantly they give much plan and thoughts into their teaching, using multi-sensory methods and occasional non-traditional settings with differentiated teaching based on students profiles personalities and learning styles, that can be memorable in student's learning.
So as AED LBS in future, these are good to be kept in mind in our future sessions, for the support of our students with Special Educational Needs, engaging in myriad of possibilities!

I enjoyed the sharing of a group where they used the current reality of having Home Based Learning, through Zoom in the possible teaching of Phonemes, and getting students to listen to the app of correct pronunciation and mouthing and sounds and the Scavenger hunt activity of getting items in the house that are of the taught phonemes to be shown to the Zoom mates. Very interesting sharing!

The AHA moments today taught me that it is important to create conducive environment for our students to learn whether it is in the LBS room or anywhere else in school. Most experiences that were shared depicted a teacher that is engaging, humorous, patient and passionate. In addition, the most common strategies used for the unforgettable lessons were such as peer teaching, scaffolding, modelling, using multi-sensory strategies and explicit teaching.

Lastly, we learnt about SAV to encourage thinking aloud and visible thinking. It was very interesting and would be used for more vocal students who are responsive.
