There's already a rumor of alcohol being accidentally put in his blood surrogate because of him causing contradiction to society, for example his dislike of obstacle golf. Due to his difference in opinion we know he tries to blend in, in order to stay. Touched his brain I suppose.” and “Poor little Bernard!” because he felt ashamed for his friend and wished Bernard would show a little more pride. More of my own not so completely a part of something else.” His interest in nature is so uncommon in his society because they were trained to hate nature because it didn't benefit the economy. We can tell he is unpleased with society when he says “I’d rather be myself, he said. Myself and Nasty. Not somebody else, however jolly.”
