I'll never forget undergoing the whole process while SHOrSem was in its earlier stages, from filing my LOI June 30 (which just so happened to by my late sister's supposed 15th birthday), to July 3 when I got the message that I would be appointed, to July 5 when I officially turned over, and finally to July 14 when I was officially announced as the new chairperson. It was tough, I had the most unconventional appointment as my position is meant to be elected but I had to fill in when the original winner resigned. I had many insecurities that still linger to this day, and have faced many challenges from then until today. It was a difficult time, I always feared losing him and it became a reality. I had to suffer through grief again but the bothering thought of the work I left also lingered. I felt so happy to go back to Manila, now as an ASHS student for the first time, and meeting all of them. I wasn't directly affected being in a different city, but it was truly difficult to deal with, trying to help my strandmates from afar and finding the best way to deal with the situation. I'm excited to see where this goes and to see it succeed, culminating everyone's hopes and efforts. But I'd be lying if I said it's easy, when in truth it is incredibly difficult.
