Ethnics Studies is important for all students because it allows students of color to see their race and culture represented and also allows them to be empowered by their own culture. It also allows students to learn about many other cultures, races, ethnicities. It allows them to learn about others and develop a deeper understanding of others. “Ethnic Studies are a potentially potent way for schools to better promote a just society” (Bonilla). When students grow up taking history classes that only teach history from a Eurocentric viewpoint some students will start to believe that Eurocentric history is the only history that matters. When students grow up taking ethnic studies courses they learn and realize that everyone is important and everyone’s history matters.
