The U.S. and USSR competed in many things here are some.
The competed in being the smartest. They would find different equations to get to space.
They would compete in engineering for building the best rocket. They would use a lot of components for the rocket to work in space. So they would spend millions to get better equipment than the other country
They would also compete in getting to the moon first. They would send spies to investigate when the other country was going to launch.

What 3 comparisons could be made in technology in the present to the impact made by the space race?

We used to have satellites that didn't work that well. Now we have them all over the world for maps, tv, and cell phones. They are somewhat the same they have some of the same parts as the older satellites. But many of the new ones can be repaired compared to the older ones.

We used to have single use rockets but now we have shuttles that can be used multiple times. All of the parts from an old rocket were wasted because most of it went up in space. But now we have the shuttle which only one thing gets taking away. The old rockets used to have 2-3 passengers were new ones have 5-6.

We have learned new equations to send rockets up more efficiently compared to the old ones that had a bigger percent to blow up. We also have calculators which make it easier to get the numbers more accurately.
