Millennium Development Goal 2 was to ensure that "all children, both boys and girls, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling". The picture below of my Mac.Rob school bag is related to (the lack of) education in developing countries. Some of the reasons that can contribute to this problem are:
- Corruption of the government
- Lack of household savings
- Sovereign indebteness
- Spending in other sectors, such as military and defence
- A skill-shortage in the labour force (i.e. no teachers)
- No infrastructure (i.e. no school buildings)
- Conflicts concerning the country

'eradicate extreme poverty and hunger’. here’s my fridge with some food. unfortunately many people in developing countries don’t have access to food because they can’t afford it, or they can’t buy it, or the food is too far away (they live in rural areas), or it has been destroyed. because of their hunger, they don’t have enough energy to go to school/work or do much and this can make them even more sick and poor :(

One of the MDGs is global partnership, including working with global organisations and private companies to address the special needs of the poorest countries. The hand cream is made by Unilever, a private MNC that has worked with international organisations to help developing countries reduce their long-term reliance on aid. In September 2014, Unilever signed a partnership with the Department for International Development to use "new social business models to improve health, hygiene and livelihoods for 100 million people by 2025." This demonstrates how MNCs can work on the MDGs in the global partnership area, and also environmental sustainability (in this plan, they are working to reduce their carbon footprint and to increase access to sanitation in developing countries.)
More details on the partnership are in the link below.
https://www.campaignlive.co.uk/article/unilever-government-join-forces-improve-life-developing-countries/1313545#5OewiH04uRHUwHFP.99

One part of the gender equality MDG is eliminating gender disparity in all levels of education by 2015, and a key cause of gender inequality in education in developing countries is access to sanitary products for girls (which is why I've included a picture of a pad here.) In developing countries girls don't often attend school if they're on their period, which means they only get around 3/4 of the education boys would receive. Thus a way to reduce gender disparities in education would be to ensure that girls would be able to access sanitary products if they need.

(actually panadol & hay fever tablets) BUT representative of treatment for HIV or AIDS, which can come in the form of medicine. If treatment becomes available, accessible and affordable for all, it is likely that the disease will not spread as quickly as it is now. More than 95% of HIV infection are in developing countries, and this is partly caused by the financial or social barriers. Not everyone can afford treatment, and many have a fear of discrimination if they were to seek help. There are also physical and organisational barriers, where treatment is too far away or there are not enough skilled professionals to administer treatment.

(photo : $1 coin) There is a large portion of people in this world barely surviving on less than $1 a day. $1 a day is not enough for a person to be able to live a dignified life or afford basic necessities, so it is important that the number of people living on less than $1 is significantly lowered or eliminated altogether. It can be difficult for people to get out of extreme poverty when there is a lack of education available. A good education can give people the skills they need to get a job and earn a wage so that they can afford food, shelter, and clothes. Without education, people are exploited in jobs that do not require much skill and are low paying.

MDG 2: Achieve universal primary education (Sam)

Here are some basic supplies that we know are necessary for a good education!! We have access to things like stationary, paper, books, and laptops (and maybe less necessary stuff like aqua drops folders from Officeworks) but a lot of children in developing countries do not. This is the case for so many reasons, all of which come down to lack of government ability to provide education - some of the contributing factors include a history of colonialism making the country very poor, limited capital resources (as a result of being poor), limited productive resources, high levels of inequality...the list goes on. This lack of education then contributes to this poverty cycle, meaning poor countries stay poor.

MDG 7: Ensure environmental sustainability (Sam)

Here's my toilet which relates directly to sanitation - the sanitation target (to halve the proportion of the universal population without sustainable access to clean and safe drinking water and basic sanitation by 2015) forms a part of MDG 7. In more developed countries we have access to basic sanitation (really high quality sanitation actually) with clean water and sufficient sewerage systems. Developing countries do not always experience the same luxury because of limited capital resources which limit ability to develop necessary infrastructure - including for sanitation. Poor sanitation is linked to spread of disease and death in these countries, contributing to a whole range of other problems such as high child mortality and high fertility rates, leading to increased population pressures and degradation of land. As a result, living standards and economic growth remain low and the poverty cycle continues.
