I chose Free Bird to resemble the Mexican War for Independence. I chose this song because of Mexico trying to fight for their independence from the Spanish empire. I believe that this song is a good representation of Mexico trying to break free, like when Lynryd Skynnryd sings, "Cause I'm as free as a bird now And this bird you cannot change." This song shows how breaking free can be a relief and longing for more, which is how I think Mexico felt in this war.

I chose "I Can See Clearly Now" because it resembles the enlightenment ideals. The Enlightenment was a period of intellectual development, and I think this fits the song pretty well. When he says he can see clearly, it sounds like he is understanding more and finding new possibilities for things. This song really expresses the ideas of seeing new things and more ideas.

This song resembles Simon Bolivar by expressing themes of heroism and striving for greatness. Its central theme is overcoming obstacles, which mirrors Bolivar's fight for independence and unification of Latin American countries. The lyrics "We can be heroes, just for one day," resemble Bolivars ideas of how even against greater odds you can still come out on top. This song also resembles his courage and determination.

The Beatles' song Revolution encapsulates the feeling of resistance and the quest for a better future for society. This song resembles the Mexican American revolution due to the oppressive regimes and fight for justice and equality. This song captures the fight against oppression and standing against the status quo. The lyrics "You say you want a revolution, well, you know, we all want to change the world" show the desire the people had for social and political change. Texas was being annexed by the US, and Mexico tried to disrupt this annexation.
