If natives resisted then force would be used to remove them from their homes. He and his supporters wanted to protest through violence. The group left to Harpers Ferry in the south in order to take over their arsenal of weapons. He hoped the local slaves would help fight the battle. This however was not the case, instead his group was easily defeated and Brown was captured.
