The land west of where the colonists were already settled, contained rich land with a lot of resources. As a result in order for settlers to take over that land, they forced tribes out of their homes. This was encouraged by Andrew Jackson after the Indian Removal Act and the forced migration of natives became to be known as The Trail of Tears. If natives resisted then force would be used to remove them from their homes. Natives tried to negotiate by going to court but the power of Andrew Jackson was too much.

In conclusion America has suffered through a lot of social and political tragic events to get to where we are today from conquering, expanding territories, having harsh views about political and racial conflicts and compromising which states are considered as slave states. Despite the intensity of these events, they have helped our country learn and develop. The event we found most interesting was the Dred Scott decision where Dred who was an African American tried suing the government which caused a major conflict in the North.
