Explain how the exercise works.

Today i will show you a website to study and improve your english knowledge.

First we need to type W-W-W-dot-H-O-L-M-W-O-O-D-S-dot-E-U in the url bar of your prefer browser (we use Google Chrome, if you use IE , change it!! ) to explore the site we want to see today.

The first page you'll get to it's a simple and fast way to introduce you to the functionality of this website.

On the above of the page we have this black bar with the different courses and other functions. On the right you can see a column with five section. If you click on english word you can change the languages of the site. If you are already registered you can enter your account  by clicking the log-in text under the learning environment, otherwise you must create a new account for using this website.

Holmwood’s offer an online english course with videos, exercises and many grammar lessons. 

If you want to try the course you have a free 7 days trial, for a full year’s subscription you must pay 34,99€. 

If you choose to create a new account you must click on the dedicated section and now you can select an option below, if you are a single user you must click on individual button. Now, as you can see, there are five forms to complete. In the first and the second one you have to type in your first and last name. The third form it’s a dropdown menu where you can pick your origin country.  

At the bottom of the page you have to insert your email address and choose a password. Below the last form you can see how much is the password strength. 

By clicking next you can review your data and with the button create subscription you’ll finally complete your registration.

Now we proceed to the login page and start our english course.

Ok, do you see the two big orange button? the first one allow you to do a placement test that evaluate your english knowledge.

The second one it’s only to take a look on the main section of the course, click on it.

Here you can see the listening, reading and grammar exercises section. Under this three big buttons there are random recommended exercises.

First one is listening exercises, where you can watch a video and answer the questions by multiple choice. The exercise have different step and at the end there is the final score.

The second section is about reading exercise where you have a limited time to read a text and answer some questions about it.

The last one is grammar exercise, this section is divided in some categories, each one is composed by video and grammar sheet, below the video there are some exercises with different way to test what you have learn. 

If you want to know the english level you have reached you must go to the drop down menu named my account and choose my results section. Your progress are divided by categories.

Ok, now you can do it by yourself! 

From my point of view Holmwoods is a good tool to study and improve your english, 

learn english on a website is more funny than read a book. 

At the end the graphics is modern and user-friendly,

try it.
