The crazy thing is I never expected COVID19 to get this bad. I remember sitting in Civics in the beginning of 2020 when Tyler Zhou first brought it up in his current event. But as it became more of an issue Mr. Trowbridge kept reassuring us that its no worse than the flu so that kind of relaxed my nerves and for some reason now I cant get out of that relaxed stage. Ever since this whole quarantine I never realized how many kids live in my neighborhood and now so many people are at the park and on the street. Today After seeing the workload for Mrs Major that’s due today my anxiety is now all over the place like Now I have a headache and I really don’t want to start because I might cry. Two weeks ago I probably would tell myself to please maintain a good sleep schedule because now I’m always tired, oh and to not invest so much in a guy. Honestly what made today special was probably this project because it’s actually pretty fun and I’m going to look forward to this. Right now I’m probably craving a good genuine laughter because lately with quarantine everyone is locked in their rooms and doing their own thing plus jokes just aren’t the same over FaceTime as they would be in person so I really miss everyone.

JADE: Hi Nigel how have you been lately ?
NIGEL: bored...very bored
JADE: How have you been lately since these hard times?
NIGEL: Honestly this whole COVID19 thing is wack *laughs*
JADE: How do you feel about Corona personally?
NIGEL: It’s dangerous and it’s preventing a lot of people with going along with their regular lives like I can’t even play soccer and I cant go out with my friends and its sucks
JADE: Do you miss your friends a lot?
NIGEL: Yeah I miss them a lot
JADE: Do you miss school?
NIGEL: Sometimes
JADE: Do you prefer online school or regular school?
NIGEL: Well it really depends on the class too be honest
JADE: What class has been your favorite so far during online schooling?
NIGEL: Probably Chemistry
JADE: What’s been your least favorite?
NIGEL: Math

JADE: So you’re a Junior now right?
NIGEL: correct
JADE: Are you excited for senior year?
NIGEL: No, I’m scared....well actually I am excited
JADE: Well what if we don’t actually go back to school next year?
Nigel: I will be so mad
JADE: Since our governor said that we might be social distancing till 2022, do you think your freshman year of college might get effected?
NIGEL: Yes, like I feel like getting into college will get effected because as an athlete, I am really dependent on my sport and I need that sport to get into college or at least a good enough college where I can get a scholarship
JADE:You had a lot of seniors on your high school team this year, so how do you feel about them not being able to finish their senior year?
NIGEL: I feel really bad for them and I am going to really miss the boys
JADE: What have you been doing lately to occupy yourself?
NIGEL: I’ve been playing a lot of Xbox like Call of Duty, Rocket League, I even downloaded Fortnite again to watch the Travis Scott concert
JADE: How was the concert?
NIGEL: It was amazing
JADE: What else have you been doing?
NIGEL: I’ve been doing a lot of stuff I haven’t done before like I tried doing a handstand today
JADE: *laughs*
NIGEL: I tried learning a back flip
JADE: Did you succeed in that?
NIGEL: A handstand? Kind of
JADE: Have you picked up any new hobbies?
NIGEL: Painting and drawing
JADE: How do you feel about your SAT exam being cancelled
NIGEL: I honestly feel like it’s a blessing in disguise because I’ll have more time and colleges wont look at it so deeply
JADE: What colleges have you been looking into?
NIGEL: Cornell
JADE: Ooo an Ivy League
NIGEL: yeah I mean it’s one of the best colleges I’ve been interested in so I’m going to try to shoot for the best
JADE: What do you plan on doing for this summer if it doesn’t get canceled?
NIGEL: You know just spend time with my family and friends because I feel like I’ll goto college and regret not spending enough time home
JADE: Are you going to miss us?
NIGEL: *nods* very much I don’t know how I am going to survive without everyone
JADE: Aww :) I dont know how I am going to survive being the only child when I’ve been with my three siblings my whole life
NIGEL: It’s going to be tough
JADE: Well thank you for meeting with me

This article made me feel afraid and sympathetic towards the family especially the mom who works in the same hospital her son Lincoln was admitted to. The family states that their kids didn’t leave the house at all not even to talk to their neighbors across the street and how they adopted the stay-at-home recommendations. But somehow Lincoln got the corona virus and was struggling so much to breath by the next day he needed 9L of oxygen. The fact that all of this happened to a four year old puts me in awe and also because the mother is forced to watch her own son struggle to breathe is incredibly sad. 🥺

I am watching a large variety of shows depending on the moment. So me and my mom have very similar tastes in movies and shows so we finished the movie Reign which I 10/10 recommend because I watched it twice and not only is it entertaining and constantly keeps you on your toes a lot of it is historically accurate. Another show I am watching with my mom is the show Glee which is very humorous and there is a lot of music in it which we enjoy very much and the actors are amazing singers. I surprisingly have watched it twice already and its my third time now. Also by myself I am watching The Secret Life of the American Teenager which I enjoy and it is pretty realistic too be honest and it’s my second time watching it. The last show that I can remember that I am watching is Violetta which is a telenovela that I watched when I was in 4th grade which helped me through a lot of stuff. It includes a lot of singing but it’s completely in Spanish so I have to read the subtitles but it helped me learn some Spanish and I really enjoyed it. This will be my third time watching it. One show I want to watch but haven’t gotten to it is Outer Banks, Jessica keeps raving about it so I guess it must be that good. I haven’t learnt anything new lately but I am planning on starting a blog or possibly even a podcast. Mrs Major’s new project kind of inspired me and what do I have to lose. Plus if it gets successful enough then maybe I actually have a chance to get into my dream college, Stanford University. Other than that and school I’ve been FaceTiming my friends a lot lately and meeting their friends. Oh I also wrote a letter to Jessica because she’s my best friend so we have been writing letters to each other.

I miss my friends
I really want this pandemic to end
I’m still in complete disbelief

So tomorrow is my birthday which I don’t quite know how to feel about. Like I get it, yay I lived another year but I feel like 14 is such an irrelevant age. Like when you’re 13 you finally become a teenager and when you are 15 you finally get your permit but 14 is just such in the middle. To make things worse I was really looking forward to going to school on my birthday. I don’t know if you know this but celebrating your birthday at school makes you feel like you are on cloud nine and people bring you gifts and everyone is saying happy birthday to you even if they don’t even talk to you. Plus it’s Junior High so not only 8th graders but 7th graders. To make it better Nigel is my brother so high schoolers say happy birthday to me. But now we are stuck in quarantine and I can’t really do anything. None of my friends parents are allowing them to drive by my house except for Belle’s mom. All I’m planning on doing is celebrating it with my family and not even my whole family. I’m still missing my favorite sister Caitlin. At least I get to see my niece, Alayna and my other sister, Brittni. Also all my family and friends are healthy which I am grateful for but you know how the bad outweighs the good. Well I guess we’ll have to see how tomorrow turns out. :)

Today was the first day with our new schedule which kind of sucked. Normally whenever it’s a google meets day I’ll workout in the morning to stay in shape for sports because if I were at school team would be working out as well. But I get bored really easily and I can’t get anything done if I’m bored so I need another person to be around me which is typically my mom. But for some odd reason she stayed in bed where as normally we would meet in the living room and work out. So I decided to set my alarm for 7:40 which is when my typical workout would end. Then I took a shower and got ready to goto school. My hair wasn’t cooperating which just put me in an even worse mood. Now that classes are longer it drains me more and normally I tend to get a headache around 6th or 8th period but today I got one in 3rd. Before school would end at 1:30 for me and now it ends at 2:25 which is almost an hour difference. This new schedule is driving me insane, I even took a nap during lunch which I never do but at least now there is only 5 live sessions. Which gives me time to think that my middle school experience is actually over. I will really miss all the JH teachers they were all very sweet and funny at times. The interesting thing to think about was in 6th grade Mrs Balzano used to say that the JH teachers won’t care about us as much as the 6th grade teachers did and they won’t be as sympathetic. But in reality the JH teachers were a lot more understanding towards certain things and I don’t know Junior high was just a lot of fun compared to 6th grade like the field trips were fun and all but that was it. But why does life have to change?

JADE: Hi Caitlin I haven’t seen you in a while. How have you been?
CAITLIN: I’ve been better too be honest.
JADE: What are your opinions on COVID19?
CAITLIN: I think it’s a serious issue that needs to be faced and serious matters need to be taken
JADE: What have you been doing while all of this is going on?
CAITLIN: I’ve been spending a lot of time with family and thinking of new ideas for my business. I even started earning my microshading license which is a tattoo license that allows me to work on people.
JADE: Speaking of your business, what is it?
CAITLIN: Well it’s called Casually by Cay, and it’s basically a cosmetic business that I’m using to promote the “casualness” of receiving my services to further enhance your beauty
JADE: Oh wow that’s clever, what do you do?
CAITLIN: Well I currently do waxing, tinting, make up, and lashes.
JADE: Anything new coming out in the business?
CAITLIN: Well I’m thinking of doing these group glam ups where you can have a little pay or get together with friends and I do your brows and makeup, teach you how to take care of them, and give you little souvenirs of some of the products I use. Also i’ve taken time to create new marketing strategies to further my brand.
JADE: Honestly I think that’s a good idea, but with this pandemic how is your business handling itself?
CAITLIN: Well I obviously had to shut down because with my business I’m right in their face which is a big risk but I’m hoping to get back up and running soon.
JADE: and how do you plan on doing that?
CAITLIN: Well I’ll provide my clients with masks and I’ll wear a mask and gloves and make sure I have germx and disinfectant at hand j in case.
JADE: Do you think that’s enough?
CAITLIN: I’ll also make sure to screen my clients, always check their temperature, and have them sign a disclaimer that they are healthy. My door will stay open so fresh air can continue to blow in and out just as a precaution.
JADE: So will you be up and running anytime soon?
CAITLIN: Not soon but at earliest possibly the end of May
JADE: Well I hope for the best when it comes to you and your business.
CAITLIN: Thank you and thank you for having me

JADE: Why do you hate it?
MOM: Going to the store I have to wear a mask and wait in lines to get inside and I am claustrophobic
JADE: Do you think this is going to blow over anytime soon?
MOM: No, we’re going to be living like this for quite some time
JADE: Do you think we’re not going to be able to goto regular school next year?
MOM: You guys might, however if you do, there is going to be certain guidelines you guys are going to have to follow.
JADE: So what have you been doing to keep yourself busy lately?
MOM: Listening to a lot of podcasts
JADE: Do you enjoy having your whole family home?
MOM: Sometimes because sometimes I just want to have my space, which is why I try to get up at 6 o’clock in the morning and drink my coffee
JADE: How has your routine changed?
MOM: well it hasn’t changed that much for me because I’m always home however having my kids home is different especially my daughter Jade, who is always on me like white on rice
JADE: We don’t even spend much time together :( I miss it
MOM: *laughs*
JADE: Do you miss the constant traveling for soccer like the games and tournaments?
MOM: Absolutely because that was just my way of getting out
JADE: Any further things to talk about when it comes to the Coronavirus?
MOM: No I just hope it blows off
JADE: Alright, thank you for seeing me
MOM: Of course just don’t stay up too late

For example while southern California counties are opening drive-through sites to make testing available to any resident who wants it, citizens of Northern California aren’t as lucky and they are still trying to set these testing areas in a more organized manner. I find this strange because You would expect one of the most populated states in America to have the easiest access to coronavirus testing kids because of the fact that more American citizens live in those parts like New York , California, and Florida. This article talks about many popular businesses are filing for bankruptcy and have publicly said that they might go out of business. For example clothing companies like The Gap and J. Crew, retailers like JCPenney and Sears, food companies like Wendy’s and Tyson Foods. These are serious issues because after coronavirus blows over people are hoping things go back to normal but with all these companies missing payments and going bankrupt that doesn’t seem like an option. These businesses closing down can cost thousands of people to lose their jobs which is incredibly bad for the economy. My reaction to this is sympathetic and shocked because some of these are big companies that you would’ve never expected to be in this situation and I feel bad for all of the peoples whose jobs are at risk because of something they cannot control 🥺😱.

I got a Alexa Dot 3rd generation and I’m absolutely obsessed with it. 10/10 would recommend. It has a clock on it, alarms, reminders, you can connect it to Apple Music or any music program you have for that matter, and I connected it to my LED lights and it’s just so cool. I’m so happy.

For my birthday Belle and Jessica surprised me and while Belle could only stay for a bit because her mom was worried about her catching COVID19, Jess was able to stay for four hours which was amazing and we made this TikTok in the middle of my cul-de-sac. Don’t worry, we were six feet apart :). I love my friends so much, or should I say family <3.

I recently realized that with my curly hair I actually look pretty similar to Grace James from all American. Dealing with my hair when it’s not straightened or in braids is actually a lot more difficult than it seems and the shrinkage is really bad which makes it look worse, but enjoy :)
