5th Grade ACP Timing Concern

ACP is listed as a 120 minute test with 27 questions. This is about 4.4 minutes a question, which is significantly faster than the 6 minutes per question based on a 4 hour STAAR test with about 40 questions, where all students receive extra time to finish as needed. Please adjust this ACP timing to reflect elementary students and to better align with the STAAR testing environment for which students are practicing.

6th Grade Science ACP

K-6 Region 3 campuses received their HMH science kits yesterday, 11/12. This means for three months sixth grade science teachers have lacked the curricular resources needed to provide effective instruction. Has this instruction interruption been communicated to the TEI Department by the Science Department? It would be unfair for the MOY science ACP to be counted on teacher TEI scorecards when they have lacked the resources for instruction.

The HMH curriculum does not provide the resources to create an interactive notebook for students to reference after the lesson. Everything is digital. The students need something tangible they can use to review the material.

There are a disproportionate number of TEKS for biology in semester one versus semester two. This leaves little to no room to recover from curriculum interruptions (TSI testing, PSAT, field trips, assemblies, etc). Semester one is 21 TEKS. Semester two is 6 TEKS. This holds semester one accountable for over three-quarters of TEKS for the entire year.
