Through his cartoon, Twohy is asserting the claim that we are becoming to reliant on technology. One way he communicates this is by using the words “virtual pigskin” to suggest everything we do now is online, and technology is centering our lives. I think if Twohy were asked the question, “What is the value of the virtual?” he would say it is starting to overtake our lives and should be used with restraint.

Twohy is trying to convey a very interesting messsage that relates to our lives in a significant way. In his picture he shows two people, one who appears older or like a father figure, and a younger looking person that looks like he could be an adult or a kid. This can signify the division between reality and people who are attached to technology in general. If Twohy was asked the question “what are the values of the virtual?” I believe he would say that technology needs to be moderated and kept in balance so that it does not consume you.

One way he communicates this is oy using the images of the two rooms without a hallway, the boy typing normal on his left hand and chicken pecking on his right, the boy owning a printer, and the toys being a bit off and misshapen to suggest that we are so absorbed in our own lives we don't notice the defects and insanity of the false reality around us.

Through his cartoon, Twohy is claiming that younger generations are being consumed by tech, affecting relationships. He communicates this when the father says “Wanna toss the ol’ virtual pigskin?” When the dad says this to his son, the son is so consumed by his tech that he ignores him. The father is trying to meet the son in his love of video games. The quote suggests that the dad is trying to connect with the son through a means by which the son may enjoy it more. If the artist was asked what the value of “the virtual” was, he would probably say that virtual is a main aspect of culture now. Although it may not be healthy or good, it is a significant way people bond today.

Thohy’s claim in this cartoon is that we are too involves in technology. In the image the boys toys are put away, technology covers the desk, and the two characters are in separate rooms. The put away toys indicates the progression of technology in our lives with the technology on the desk exemplifying this. The author additionally elaborates on the effects of this in comment in technology by depicting separation from the father in the 2 rooms, representing reality. Also the authors use of virtual adds irony to the situation about the “simulated reality”.
