I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, which has allowed me to be surrounded by Latin culture making this class very relevant and helpful in my life. I was raised in a Hispanic/American household as my father was raised in Mexico and my mom was raised in the United States. I have played ice hockey for most of my life and now I play for the University of Texas Ice Hockey club team. I am currently a freshman in the McCombs School of Business, and at the moment I am not sure what I want to major in but I am leaning towards Finance and International Business. I look forward to learning about the different cultures throughout North America. I hope I gain a greater insight towards the Latin culture and gain experience dealing with different cultures in an effort to assist me in the business realm.

This picture demonstrates Particularism this person clearly does not care for the law. This person got his motorcycle stolen and all he wants is to get it back. He will not ask any questions of how you found his/her bike and is even offering a reward for his bike. He will not go to the police or prosecute and simply wants to have his bike back.

This picture is an example of Particularism. I believe this is because it shows that there is not one type of Coca-Cola and that throughout the world many countries might have different forms. These different forms may look different and even taste different. This also demonstrates particularism because each coke is unique to its country and it may be oriented to people with specific tastes.

This picture demonstrates Universalism because it is clear that The University of Texas at Austin is trying to impose a rule on the faculty, students and those walking through campus. Administration clearly does not want anyone using any form of tobacco on campus whether it’s through smoking or chewing tobacco. This law also applies to all people on campus and there are no exceptions. The administration clearly believes this a the best and most efficient way to represent University of Texas at Austin.

This picture is an example of Community. This is because it shows that when there is a community of people trying to solve a problem many times there are more opinions and a problem may be solved much quicker. This is shown through the picture because the thought bubble is much bigger coming from the group of people than the single person. This also demonstrates community because it encourages coordination amongst people.

This cartoon is an example of sequential vs. synchronous time. The picture on the left demonstrates sequential time because it is talking about getting a project done by a very specific deadline. The picture on the right demonstrates synchronous time because it demonstrates a very relaxed mindset where an important task could be put off to a later time.
