• Throughout learning what a documentary is, I honestly realized that it requires a step-by-step process which is the beginning of getting to know the history or information with a little research, a friendly meeting with the main subject, and finally getting involved in the filming process of making a documentary. 
• This new learning gave me some knowledge that documentaries can be produced in various ways and styles, exposing the audience directly or indirectly exactly to the intention of the story.

• As you already know, this time I was assigned as an editor who will handle visual footage in the editing process for this documentary project. Through the idea of ​​our director, Nazirul, he wanted the documentary to be more expository, which is the same as presenting the situation spontaneously with the application of an interview with the subject, Mr. Yusuf @ Damak. 
• In addition, during the production process I also took part in operating the camera, being one of the assistant camera operators during the interview process and also taking some B-Roll footage when I was on the resort beach.

• What I see through the strength of our group, almost all of them can contribute creative ideas in further developing the storytelling idea for this documentary project. 
• There are many things to go through when wanting to show what the main purpose of this documentary is actually where our interview with Encik Yusuf @ Damak is more focused on his life as a teacher or manager of the resort he owns. However, this change does not affect any of our documentary intentions, but we are always open to other ideas to make it work.

• So far my group members have put a lot of effort and confidence in making sure the progress of the work goes smoothly, and if there are any, we will sit down and discuss with each other and try our best to solve them as best as possible to maintain the development of this documentary project.
• Our relationship with the subject Mr. Yusuf @ Damak has so far been well received by him, he directly considers us part of his family where he always serves us and invites us to chat and eat with him. The open nature of him and his family also gave us a meaningful experience throughout the documentary process and hope to come again in the future.

• To be honest, I think documentaries are just informative videos that just convey new knowledge for viewers of all ages. Most people only watch documentaries because they want to know something about the latest info, but the narration of subjects that can be used in documentaries can give some value, good examples are shown to the public as an inspiration.
• Finally, while studying this documentary, it has changed my perception to some extent to find the hidden meaning contained in it which will be something valuable and appreciated by all involved.

• For now, after learning the basics of documentary making, it will be a good opportunity where this documentary is open and real, not limited to a single subject or idea of ​​intention to be conveyed to the general audience. 
• I also learned that a good documentary can only be achieved through what is close to our hearts such as friends, family or even ourselves. This kind of opportunity gives us to produce a meaningful work that is directly accepted and appreciated by all the groups involved.

• I acquired knowledge of Kampung Belawai's atmosphere and the events that happened while we were at the resort. In addition, I learned about the Melanau village and its people, as well as the economic activities that take place there.

• For me, having our friends from the Belawai community there made it easier for us to carry ourselves, and happily the folks we interviewed were nice to us and shared interesting tales with us. From there, we examined the resort area for the materials we would need to use as additional references in our documentary.

• At first, this story only focuses on the subject with the resort, but after a little discussion with the group members, we plan to add the school atmosphere as additional info to the subject and also use the Melanau language entirely in the interview session instead of the Malay language because we want to create a difference in our documentary.

• Honestly, it's good. The journey from the college to the location was quite okay, there were times when the weather was unpredictable, but we got there safely. The subjects interviewed were very okay and cooperated when told and the group members were very good at doing the work.

• In my opinion, the style and storytelling of documentaries remain the same.

• To be honest, making a documentary is quite challenging but also quite fun because we can explore something new and being able to document it as additional knowledge is a very good thing. If given the opportunity to do a documentary, I want to do it because recording a useful story is very good and I want to be part of it if I have the opportunity.

I have learned how to write a script more simply and do not need a full and complex script like the scripts that are always made for short films before shooting. Likewise before during and after filming. The script and storyline will always change according to the taste of the director and sir yow who suggested us some better changes.

ii) How does the consultation process help you achieve your creative vision?

As a script writer, I negotiate a lot with the director about what should be in the script. However, I also have my own suggestions and I can make sure that the script can be understood by those in the group. As well as the consultation between us as a group to Sir Yow. Many instructions and words of encouragement were given by him before we moved to Belawai

iii) How and what is the creative and thought process in making this documentary? How was it?
evolve (and change) over time?

The creative process that I can do is how to ensure that the video recording is in line according to existing script. However, during the filming on the first day, the weather was quite bad and it always ended up flooding under the house where we live. The next day we were able to record what was there and what was left while Cikgu Damak was still there. I can say that not much has changed from our original plan during the interview with Cikgu Damak. But Cikgu Damak narrated his life experience for almost an hour until we felt worried and afraid that this documentary video would not be made as it supposed to be. But after our director reviewed the interview video. As an editor, I also need to rework the script to give a suitable story line that should be on the script.

iv) How is the working relationship developed over time? (with your subject, yourself, your team
member etc.)

We work together no matter the time and anywhere. Although there are many constraints between us due to insufficient time or problems between us and the surrounding weather. We keep in touch with each other online and face to face.

v) What do you think of the documentary before and after this project? Think about
documentary changed? Why do you think there has been such a change? Describe.

As this final documentary discussion begins. We are still in the process of completing the SULAM project with the Kampung Meriyu community. Where I'm a bit skeptical about the time I have. As if this documentary could not be completed. But after the SULAM project ended. I started to get an idea of ​​what to do while I was there as a script writer and other crew assistants. Our group members have prepared all the necessities that need to be brought there. During the filming, the surrounding conditions were quite windy and sometimes we had no direction of what to shoot. I also help the cameraman to shoot around as many shots as possible to make it easier for the editor. After we got home we were quite tired and happy because it was the only location farthest we had ever gone from the location of University Malaysia Sarawak. After this filming took place, I realized that a lot changed from what was planned to what was made. Because the story line will not be exactly what we want. Because documentary videos based on someone's story can only be understood and studied after an interview. It also meant I couldn't change his story and his life story in the script. Need to follow and write what was is in the interview.

vi) Are you interested in making documentaries in the future? Why and why not? What will happen
about and how it will be made/approached? Describe.

In the future this documentary is one of the things I like to do. Because it involves real atmosphere and life without being changed by the script writer. It's also easier to film because it doesn't require acting talent. Just do what you can do and say what you have done all your life. I think the interview should be done earlier than recording the activities of a person's life first. After that, then we can start shoot b-roll recording according to the interview.
