I use the NBC Learn K-12 site as a resource for gathering information in Social Studies. The students use the site to access videos that are related to the topics we read about in class textbook. Two of my favorite tools to use with my students on the site the Claim-Reasoning-Evidence Chart and the KWL Chart. In addition, I like to use this site as story starters or inspirational pieces to encourage creative writing.

At our school, we were approved to use eLearning days in the case of inclement weather. When using this type of program, our principal was very particular of the expectations set to plan our day. Here are just a few guidelines she set to help guide us through our eLearning day plans.

1. There must be a lesson created for EVERY subject that the students would miss on that particular day.
2. All lessons should be posted and accessible on our school platform's website by 8AM that day.
3. All educators must be able to be reached by students and/or parents electronically for the majority of the day.
5. All assignments must be submitted to the teacher within five days of hosting a eLearning day.

This site provides schools with guidelines/standards for students which explains and describe the responsibility of a digital citizen. It teaches the students better ways to protect themselves online by making safe choices in a digital world. Within the school I teach, we use a program hosted by a site known as Common Sense Media. This website has lesson plans ready to use that are geared toward specific grade levels.
