This story is about a 16-year-old girl battling cancer with no known ,cure she knows she will die yet she always seemed to stay so strong throughout the book , because of cancer she has a problem with her lungs and won't be able to breathe on her own, so she’s always connected to an oxygen cart and only took it off for a few minutes in a few key scenes of the book before reconnecting it. 

Another person battling cancer is also mentioned in this story. Augustus Water he ended up receiving a prosthetic leg as a result of one of his cancer surgery and after that there was no sign of cancer for 9 months that is thanks to that surgery however he had to get used to having a prosthetic leg

John green , effectively explores death through its physical, psychological, and emotional manifestations. A carry-around oxygen tank or a prosthetic leg can be pretty normal in a hospital setting, but out in the real world, they stick out like a sore thumb

One of the main themes I wanna point out is suffering Suffering is the main theme, because cancer causes suffering. Hazel suffers from both physical and emotional pain in her life. Hazel is concerned about inflicting this suffering and pain on others, such as her friends and family, when she dies. She compares herself to a (grenade) bomb that could explode at any time and injure those around her.

U can see that in this line when her parents tell her to make friends

 I’m like. Like. I’m like a grenade, Mom. I’m a grenade and at some point I’m going to blow up and I would like to minimize the casualties, okay? and I just want to stay away from people and reads books and think and be with you guys because there’s nothing I can do about hurting you; you’re too invested, so just please let me do that, okay? I’m not depressed. I don’t need to get out more. And I can’t be a regular teenager, because I’m a grenade. 

It is clear that her suffering isnot only from the pain of cancer, but also from the fear that those close to her would know of her death. That's something Hazel can't imagine. She is unable to do many things with the people she cares about. So She confines herself, John Green conveys the message that despite the imperfections of our destiny, we can thrive and lead a happy life

I loved the way the author wrote this book beacause it take you through a roller coaster of emotions and gives u a lot of description thus giving us more imagery in our minds. This book, in my opinion, should be read by everyone, both boys and girls, because it isn't just a sad, depressing book about death. Although cancer is a major theme in the novel, it is mainly concerned with the development of main characters Hazel and Augustus' , which I appreciated because it prevented you from simply feeling sorry for them, allowing you to truly understand and get to know them.

the book might be tragic, but the way John Green’s words are ‘oftentimes breathtaking, and some portions of the novel are so perfectly structured that even the smallest details are turned into moments of emphasis. It shows how people need a lot of courage to live and overcome their biggest enemy & fears.
