Sarah Hanson-Young: “On these days, the idea of having to be in the same room as some of my male colleagues makes my stomach turn. The sexist put downs, innuendo and bullying while I’m trying to do my job means some days I just don’t feel up to it. Often it is easier to ignore the slurs and stay silent, let the bullies have their fun, shut up and not make a fuss. 

Wingda: Hanson was crying out of frustration. Grimshaw needs to be ashamed of herself for asking a female politician whether she should just "walk away" (in the most condescending tone ever), when she wouldn't dream of asking a man this....I found that to be pathetic. Pauline will likely get more votes out of this interview. The "there, there luvvy" interviewing technique for a female politician is offensive.

-Handle : A ‘handle’ refers to a user’s account name on Twitter, but it can be in reference to other social platforms, too. Each ‘handle’ is unique and can be used to find or mention other users on the platform.A user’s handle is the ‘@’ symbol, followed by their account name.

-Social Media Influencer: a user on social media who has established credibility in a specific industry. A social media influencer has access to a large audience and can persuade others by virtue of their authenticity and reach.

Reaction: The comments were completely unacceptable and should have been called out by Rowan and Ross at the time. There’s room for plenty of opinions, but basic human decency should come first. Sexism is never ok. 

REACTION: “reprehensible, hurtful and no woman, whether in public or the privacy of her home, deserves them”. 

"Hey I just met you / If you don’t date me / You’ll go to prison / I’ll say you raped me”, were the words that, quite rightly, brought down Luke Creasey's run for Canberra – but not until they had hit the radar of who knows how many young people just starting to tune in.
